2023 Draft Grades.

Postby obiken » Sun Apr 30, 2023 5:12 pm

I hate say this but I think but I think Pete nailed this the last day. I have to give him an A-/A 2nd year in a row. I have ask where was this in 2013-2021. Other notables, I like what the Texans did, to trade up and get a great LB as well, and the Eagles. Bears I dont get, Cards are going to regret moving down.

The Iggles had the best draft. Then us. And yes, day 3 made this draft. I loved the players we got in the first 3 rounds but without the quality role players we collected on day 3 we would have been middling.

The Eagles got a couple of good players, but only if Carter actually cares to put in the work. Otherwise it's a failure.

I think Houston did a real good job getting the best player on both Offense and Defense. As well they added a good Center/Guard in Scruggs along with a LB.
It's a good starting point for them in their rebuild.

Another solid draft buoyed by our trade return from the RW trade in both 2022/2023 drafts. JS made a lot of "value" picks based on their Big Board construction and allowed the draft to "come to our drafted position" vice any obvious reaches. Our draft positioning based on 2021's losing season and 2022's early exit from play-offs helped.

Our picks were both physical selections for the most part and many were team leaders in College along with very little off field concerns.
It looks like they are trying to get back to the LoB days on both sides of the ball from a character perspective. This change started last year and continued this year.
I would expect it to continue again next year as it's been a successful couple of drafts.
