Yep. Had it been voluntary, there would have been no need for them to create that phony position to appease him and his supporters. Besides, had it been voluntary, why didn't Pete come out and say so at the time and tell the public that he was stepping down? It was only a matter of a couple days after Pete had publicly indicated that it was his intention to return to the team as HC in 2024 that they announced that he was leaving.
I actually feel sorry for Pete being unable to face reality. But then again, all of us have had to deal with that precious male ego of ours. At least we had the benefit of doing it mostly in private.
