The league’s suits had spoken: Talent ain’t enough if your swagger smells like entitlement. And just like that, Sanders’s draft stock nosedived faster than a TikTok trend.

One anonymous coach groaned, “The worst formal interview I’ve ever been in… He’s so entitled. He takes unnecessary sacks.” Translation: Dude brought a Lamborghini ego to a minivan league.

Perhaps the guy deserved to have the prank pulled on him.

He does not deserve to be pranked called like that. Like him or hate him, I have no problems with bravado if you can walk the walk. I am glad they punished the Falcons for this because it's wrong any way you dice it. I wouldn't want him on my team as much as I wouldn't want Spencer Rattler or Johnny Manzel, or even the late great Aaron Rodgers. A lot of QBs will walk around with this idea they are the best player on the field and they believe it. Some actually pan out to be superstars, and most don't. However, a prank call like that is unwarranted no matter what. At least he will have time to prove his worth.

At least Deon has proven he can take programs and make them better, and he is a hall of famer, big headed an all, he did walk the walk.

Yeah, I tend to agree. You can't condone that kind of behavior, especially from someone connected to the league. That's why I included the "maybe" qualifier at the end of my comments.

But after reading about his pre-draft behavior, I've lost quite a bit of sympathy for that prank having been played on him. If anyone deserved it, it would be Prime Time 2.0.

Milroe, on the other hand…

Seahawks rookie quarterback Jalen Milroe will arrive in training camp at No. 3 on the depth chart behind Sam Darnold and Drew Lock, and before he can compete for a starting job, he wants the players above him to know that he respects what they’ve already done in the league.

“I’m a student of the game and I’ve got to earn the trust and respect of everyone in the locker room,” Milroe said on NFL Network. “Meeting extra with the coaching staff, getting around the guys in the room, learning, growing, because no matter what work I have, I’ve got to be the best quarterback I can be.”

Milroe said no rookie should come in thinking he has it all figured out.

“No. 1, got to pay respect to the guys in the room,” Milroe said. “These guys have had reps in the NFL, competed at a high level, so as a young guy, all I want to do is pay respect to the veterans.”

For the Seahawks, Milroe is something of a project, a talented athlete who will need some time to develop before he’s a starter. Sam Darnold’s contract makes clear that he’s the starter this year, but Milroe is ready to be patient, and work to earn his teammates’ and coaches’ confidence if the time comes when they turn to him to start.

He seems to have the right attitude. (From PFT)

Yeah, he's saying all the right things. But you have to wonder if any of that was prompted by the polar opposite attitude expressed by Prime Time 2.0, that he's going to make damn sure that he doesn't make the same mistake.

Having said that, I'll take whatever Milroe says as coming from the heart until shown otherwise. He sounds like he's going to be a good locker room guy.

Edit. Back to the thread topic.
Milroe sounded quite apt and polished during his press conference yesterday. I’m impressed with his leadership qualities. It does help that he’s a child of two military parents.

Cautiously optimistic for this one!

From what little I’ve read he was like that before the draft and it was one of the things that was discussed by his coaches and teammates. It seems to be the way he looks at the situation and how he’s going to make it work for him and the team.

Attitude is one thing. Throwing the football on time and on target is another. That's going to be his biggest challenge.

Just like Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen, but each player is a new project so we will see if he can make the necessary changes to become a true NFL quarterback and not just a gimmick QB.

He is saying all the right things, but he did put a slight expectation on his name before arriving in Seattle "Belt to Ass"

I took that comment as him referring to he has to buckle down and get to work, nothing more.
How did others perceive what he meant by that statement?

Hmm.. I think his comment is reflective on being passed up by multiple teams. It was a direct response to be passed on, and the "belt to ass" which I perceive him telling that he is going to whoop up on the teams that didn't take him. He commented right away "the seahawks knew I was the best QB in the draft." He also felt he was best QB in the draft. Now again I don't have a problem with him coming out saying that, or believing that, and whether the Seahawks had him rated the best QB in the draft, however when you make a statement like that, you are putting some pressure on yourself to prove the doubters, in which is why he landed in the 3rd round. Now, he is grateful to be here in Seattle, and is embracing it quite well and is showing how much he wants to get to to work. Again, I have no issue with his comments.

I, too, think the comment was made in context with his "falling" to the 3rd round (there's a good reason why he was a 3rd rounder). I have no problem with it whatsoever. If it were unsolicited, then maybe it could reflect an over inflated ego. But it's often times a good thing, especially as a quarterback, to have a bit of a chip on your shoulder. He's not the first rookie to make a comment like that following the draft.

My favorite is Josh Rosen, "Nine mistakes were made ahead of me" and two seasons later he is out of the league.... LOL
