Dang, River, I didn’t realize you were that old to have seen Babe Ruth! Yeah, I hate to use the term GOAT as well, but I don’t think there’s been anybody else as dominant in the history of the sport. Of course he takes the mound tonight, so more impossible moments await.

4 hits in 4 at bats, 2 doubles, 2 homeruns, 3 RBIs, 5 walks

That's nuts.

Dude was created in a lab. Unreal.

Heard (read?) that TOR has said they're flat done pitching to him.

I hesitate to use terms like GOAT, but this guy is the most dominant baseball player that I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of great ones

Agreed, and it's not close, especially when he's doing it both at the plate and on the mound.

Hehe! Yeah, I thought about that after I posted it. FYI my earliest childhood heroes were Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays. I had to mention Babe Ruth as from what I know about baseball history, he was the closest person to have duplicated what Ohtani has done.

I'm going to have to reach out to a friend of mine from Japan. He was an exchange student when the two of us were in high school. We met playing baseball and have remained friends for over 50 years. When he came over to visit last year, I started trying to get some mutual friends together in advance of his arrival, he told me not to make a big deal about it, that he wasn't Shohei Ohtani.

Find out what they think of Ohtani in Japan. I've never seen a baseball player like that. He's a cheat mode player. It's insane.

I just sent him an email. I'm sure that Ohtani is hugely popular over there, but I'll let you know what he says.

We know how Ichiro was regarded, and Ohtani is like Ichiro but with power and a 100mph fastball.
