I'm not huge on stats or numbers - a win is a win and a loss is a loss. Though I still thought it would be fun to look at the entire regular season and see what I'd come up with. Since I spent the 10 minutes doing it, might as well post it.

Wins - Actual Point Differential
Game 1) 5 (Panthers)
Game 2) 26 (49ers)
Game 3) 28 (Jags)
Game 4) 3 (Texans)
Game 6) 7 (Titans)
Game 7) 12 (Cards)
Game 8) 5 (Rams)
Game 9) 3 (Bucks)
Game 10) 23 (Falcons)
Game 11) 21 (Vikings)
Game 13) 27 (Saints)
Game 15) 23 (Giants)
Game 17) 18 (Rams)

Total: 201
Average: 15.5

==============================
Losses - Actual Point Differential
Game 5) 6 (Colts)
Game 14) 2 (49ers)
Game 16) 7 (Cards)

Total: 15
Average: 5

==============================
Average out the win and loss differentials (15.5 and 5)
Average: 10.25 - So basically two scores per game.

This obviously has nothing to do with the playoffs, but gives a nice benchmark of the regular season. It shows how dominant they truly were. They deserve the #1 seed, it was earned!

I look at 8 games decided by 7 pts or less. I think Hawks got better at winning close games. And Matt Shaub threw away our #2 seed ;(. Kidding, I am a SF homer.

It's been a long time since we lost by more than a TD. Can anyone remember the last time we lost by more than one score? I wonder how our margin of loss stacks up against the rest of the league over the past two years.

Unsure how far back you wanna' go, RD...and you likely know this, but we've not lost by more than a score since drafting that short guy. And I think RW has lost by more than a score in like 2 games, college and pro (IIRC).

Thanks for compiling that, Yoder. Very interesting to see those numbers stacked in that manner. I'm almost as impressed with that first win, of just 5 pts, than any of the others. I recall being slightly bummed going into Carolina and escaping with the win, lol. Who knew?

They talked about this on the radio a couple weeks ago ( think prior to the Niners game) they haven't lost by more than a single score in something like 40 games. I'll look it up and let you know the actual number.

Yep last loss by more than one TD was to the Cowboys in 2011 ( ten points 23-13) 40 games exactly. Pretty damn impressive.

Thanks for compiling that, Yoder. It feels good to see it in print.

Even Peyton, Tom & Drew can't say that they haven't lost by more than a TD in 40
Games.

I didn't know about the 40 game streak. That is impressive.

42 if you feel like adding playoffs in. ( something I have wondered about the last two seasons is the " can't play on the road" thoughts. Losing by less than one score means you are always competitive on the road. Big difference between being blown out on the road, which happens to quality teams, and losing by 2 or 5... just something that I have found curious 0

I figured it had to have been awhile. But more than Russell, IMO it's more attributable more to our defense than anything else. We may not win every game, but with our defense, we're in every game.

And I am better at my game day rituals. I'm thinking that's at least 1/3 of it. ;-)
