Hawk Shack NFL Pickem League

Postby Distant Relative » Fri Aug 28, 2015 6:02 pm

Ok Guy's and Gal's it's that time of year again. This year I added confidence points. May even do spreads if we get enough interest.

Looking forward to another season. Good luck all.

Nice call RD.

Nice job last year!

OK, so I was thinking........ If we get 20 players in this league that can participate through the season I will donate 50.00 to the Hawk Shack and will give the winner 50.00.

Now get your asses signed up! Lets do this!!!!

So how many we got now?

This is free to participate and you could win money (either for yourself or for the Shack, your choice) ... I totally don't get why every single person that ever opens this thread ain't in it.

lol, best I did for pickem pool was a tie for 1st place but losing out on a final tie breaker.

That said, I've won the survival pool twice...and this is an interesting week #1 for that as well.

Yea, the confidence points thing confused me, too. I thought that you ranked games with 1 being the most confident.

I had the most wins (tied) but am in sixth place. I don't care for the confidence points and it looks like long time players are already out.

Any interest in starting again??

Keep this one and just start another w/o the confidence picks. I used to do both every year.

I noticed that, too, when I went to check the scores and saw zeros for some people with the confidence points thing.

Far as I'm concerned, it's the W-L straight up that matters most anyway. Don't wanna see a bunch of people drop out because they missed the points part for weeks one.

If anyone cares to start a new pickem without confidence points do it and I will join. Last year I had several suggestions to add confidence points so I did. I have to admit it is a little confusing.

I'll do what ever the rest decide to do. Now that I understand the confidence points thing, I'm OK with it although I prefer the KISS method. I have to think too hard just figuring out who I think will win let alone how confident I am in my selections. I waffle on 90% of the games.

Isn't there a way to change the rules during the season? How about we all agree to make the same confidence point selection each week so that it evens out? Just thinking outside the box.

Yahoo won't let me drop the confidence points, I tried. So like I said before if the consensus is not to have them then somebody else is welcome to start another league with out.

Thanks.

The other thing we could do is just ignore the confidence points when it comes to determining our Hawk Shack standings. Use just the W/L records and make a post each week updating the standings. I'll volunteer to keep track of the W/L records and make a standings post each Tuesday.

IMO it wouldn't be fair to those that had a good opening weekend to start all over again from Square 1 by starting a new league.

I'm feeling bad here. Distant - thank you for taking the time to set up a league. I've done that, tried to take everyone's opinions and needs into account and missed the mark. It didn't feel too good. Just because I am too stupid to understand what confidence points are doesn't mean it is a bad thing. Again, thanks so much.

I guess the only concern is that some have zeros for week one. What is the suggestion for dealing with that?

Well, there she goes again... Wrong again! :D

You're not stupid, far from it. You'd be the last person in this forum that would fit that description. Besides, neither Cbob nor myself could figure it out. So go ahead, call both of us stupid.

Well as long as we're also counting the straight up scoring (which is also shown) and having a forum winner for each scoring method, I say we just power on and those of us that fupped uck deal with having given those of us that didn't a head start in the Confidence side of it.

No worry's Sista and thanks for the gratitude! Lots of season left and lots of chances to catch up or fall for everyone.

As far as the the Zeros.... They should still have a win loss total with no points but still in the hunt for over all pick em.

Go Hawks!

I am getting killed! Going into SNF, I've picked just 3 winners this week.

I don't dare change my pick in SNF. Taking the Packers puts a jinx on them.

I have 6 wins and 45 total confidence points scored going into tomorrow night's game (with a 9 on Indy remaining).

Brutal, lol.

If you have 6 wins, you're doing better than me! I only have 4 wins and 30 confidence points. Plus I lost my survival game (Saints-Bucs) and I got my ass handed to me in Fantasy Football, lost by at least 20 points, probably more after tonight. It wouldn't have been so bad if the Hawks would have won, at least then I could go to work with something to brag about. As much trash talking I've done in the past, I'm going to really be harpooned this morning.
