Tough loss. A few things that stood out as poor:
1. Calling a defensive timout 3 seconds shy of the two minute warning. WT-?!?!?! That timeout would have come in handy when we got the ball back with 53 sec on the clock.
2. Continuing not to play the read option where RW runs the ball every so often, keeping our offense multi-dimensional ... and not just two dimensional. This incessant desire by someone - whether it be Bevell, Carroll, or Wilson himself - to prove RW's value as a Manning-like pocket passer is getting extremely annoying. We haven't run the read option since last regular season. It nearly cost us the Green Bay game. It cost us the SB. It cost us today. I'm not asking that we run our franchise QB every play, but designing some runs for him - maybe just two a game - opens up the other parts of our game. He's good at it. Without it, he isn't what we're paying him for. I haven't seen it since December of last year. Long overdue in opening it back up.
3. Sloppy tackling, and weak middle. They were killing us with that screen pass, and were getting more yards after short passes than they should have been able to do.
With all this said, I actually thought our O-line looked alright. They certainly got better on the pass blocking as the game wore on. I was okay with the onsides kick call ... but it didn't work out, so naturally, everyone is questioning PC.
GO SEAHAWKS!!!
