A Significant Fact I'll Bet You Didn't Know

Postby RiverDog » Sun Dec 13, 2015 4:12 pm

With the win today, our Seahawks over the course of franchise history are over .500 for the first time ever. May we never sink below sea level again!

313 wins, 312 losses.

That's very cool. I was watching for that to happen mid-way through last year's season. Glad to see it has finally happened. It would take too long, but it would be interesting to see how many other clubs are above .500

These aren't the same old Seahawks. My guess is that over the last 12 seasons they have to be among the league leaders in wins. In that period they have:
9 playoff appearances, 7 division crowns 3 Super bowl appearances with a win and a likely wild card berth this year so who knows? Its gotten to be a pretty cool thing being a Hawks fan.

I've been a fan since inception and some pretty bad seasons. Glad to know we've won more than we've lost but it still doesn't feel like it yet. But, I gotta say, it's been feeling pretty damn good the last few years.

Actually we broke the .500 mark a couple of weeks ago if you included our 14-12 overall playoff record.

It's great to be a Seahawks fan, especially when you contrast us with Detroit Lions and Cleveland Browns fans. Reaching a mark like this makes me want to reach out and shake hands with the one man that made all of this possible and without whom we might not even have a team... Paul Allen.

It has been a long hard road to get over .500 over the course of the history of the franchise. This is a very good incentive to keep the win streak intact, I would hate to backslide now.

I wonder where the rest of the teams in the NFL are at. Even some of the most storied teams had many years of mediocrity before success. Case in point the Pittsburgh Steelers, everyone knows the record from 1970 until now but before 1970 I don't then EVER put together a season where they were over .500

Tampa Bay went to and won a Super Bowl before we did but I wonder when or if they as a franchise has reached .500 or better? They are still at 1 appearance and now we have been to 3.

There have been teams like Dallas and Oakland that have had amazing winning consistency over the course of their history so that it would take quite a few losing years to fall back under .500

I looked up some numbers from our Division. These are regular season numbers.W,L,T
Az Cards 533-723-39=1295
Niners 557-448-16=1021
Rams 538- 541-21=1100
These numbers reflect many more games played for our division rivals because they were around longer than 1976.
