How Many Have Watched All 50?

Postby RiverDog » Sun Feb 07, 2016 1:55 pm

I have seen every single Super Bowl starting with the first one in 1967 when I was in the 6th grade. It wasn't even called the Super Bowl back then. Lamar Hunt, the founder of the AFL, saw one of his kids playing with a popular toy of the era called a Super Ball and thought that would be a cool name for what was then called the AFL-NFL World Championship Game.

Anyhow, just curious how many others have seen all the games or have a special recollection of one game in particular you'd like to share.

The first one I remember was Oakland vs GB, but I'm sure I probably watched #1, just don't place it.

Started a bit later. Hats off to those who have seen each one. This one was fun. It wasn't as fun as 48, but it was fun. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery. #DefenseWins. #elwaycopied

One thing I remember about the first one is that both networks, NBC and CBS, televised it live as the two leagues had separate contracts with the networks, CBS with the NFL and NBC with the AFL. I also remember the fact that the game was far from being a sell out and that it was the first pro football championship game played on a neutral field.

Dad didn't let us have a TV until 1973 when I was in 8th grade.

Born in '74......the first one I remember watching, and haven't missed one since, is Super Bowl XV in 1981...Oakland vs Philly.

So I have seen 36 of them now.

Have not watched them all. We were not allowed too much tv when I was young and been busy for some things. Even had to skip 90 percent of the one in 2001 because I was in NCO Academy in Tennessee. No time to sleep. LOL
