Johnnie Football's father: "...I hope he goes to jail"

Postby RiverDog » Sat Jun 25, 2016 4:49 am

This story just keeps getting sadder and sadder:

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/johnny-man ... 46582.html

It comes on the heels of a story about his attorney accidently texting the press saying that he doubts that Manziel could stay clean if a testing clause is part of his plea bargain: "Heaven help us if one of the conditions is to pee in a bottle"

I'm sure that his attorney claimed it was accidental.

Its unbelievable. Ive been on the wrong side of lots of QB evaluations but this one takes the golden bee bee award. Its pretty sad when his dad is rooting for him to be locked up. Its easy to forget celebrities are humans too.
Its hell, I've dealt with addicted children as well.Things are the best they've been in a long time now but it still gnaws at you as a parent and keeps you up at night worrying.

We have all been there bubba. My worst was Marcus Allen. I felt he would not be a good NFL back because he had the USC line to run behind, bad call!

Well, the latest Johnny news...which is almost becoming a non football subject...is that Manziel was suspended for 4 games for violating the league's substance abuse policy, so if he had any hopes at all of hooking up with another team, they went up in a puff of smoke..pun intended.

The real laugher in that article was the last sentence:

Manziel told TMZ this week he planned to get sober starting July 1 -- after a vacation to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

I see absolutely no scenario where Manziel would ever play again. Nobody will take a chance even if hes clean and sober for years. He needs inpatient therapy followed up by intensive aftercare and shows no sign of seriously wanting to get right. This guy is on a pace to be the next Ryan Leaf stealing stuff to buy dope when the money runs out. Unreal. His dad may be right, he might die.

It looks like he could end up in the Arena Football League:

"We could provide a strong platform for him to demonstrate that he is back," AFL commissioner Scott Butera told TMZ Sports

If he's going to be successful in even that league, he's going to have to change his behavior. But I tend to agree with Hawktalk. Johnny's NFL career will stay in his rear view mirror. He screwed the pooch.

If Tim Tebow, as hard a worker and clean cut a man as you could want, far more hardware in college and a playoff win in the pros cant find a job there's no way in hell Johnny does.
The AFL is being totally self serving and are actually putting Johnny in further jeopardy if they put him in a position to be the next Charlie Sheen.
Their fans should consider it a slap in the face.
