"The 12's"

Postby makena » Fri Sep 16, 2016 8:48 pm

From filmmaker Julian Kneidle, "The 12's" is a 5 minute short documentary about the spirit of being a Seahawk Fan.
He inteviewed the locals around the area... Saw some familiar faces... kind of cool...

Here is the video from his site:

Hardest thing for me as a lot of you know was all the years of 7-9 9-7. Never a SB contender but never bad enough to beat on. It was agony football purgatory. I wish my dad could have lived to see us finally win, he never stopped believing.

In all my 40 years of being a Seahawks supporter, I can truly say that this is the best time in our history to be a Seattle Seahawks fan. Thank you Paul Allen

+1

Sustained success in this league is rare, and I'd like to think that suffering through the '80s and '90s Hawks teams made us longtime Hawk fans appreciate these years even more.

The 80's was a good decade for Seahawk football. Behring bought the team in 1988, and the plunge into darkness didn't really occur until a couple years later when he fired Chuck Knox and appointed his fishing buddy Tom Flores as head coach.

You're right; I was going on my memories, and those don't kick in until I was 5 years old or so in 1985 and I started really paying attention in 1987. Starting to watch football, I was pretty disappointed even at .500 years, and my early experience was basically all .500 seasons or close to them. I wish I would have been old enough to enjoy those '83 and '84 seasons.

Hell yeah it is. I live about eight hours from the stadium. It was far enough away that as a kid in the 80's and a teen in the 90s, I took a lot of crap being a Hawks fan. Straight ridicule. So many fair weather fans back then, it was horrible. That's why it drives me nuts when fans of our team bash them every bad game. We could go back to the friez, or kitna, or mirer days. It is a great time to be a seahawks fan. We will be competitive for years to come.
