I have never heard the phrase stat porn, but find it fitting. There are some exciting things ahead for us Hawk fans. I hope the trend continues

Interesting article. It's nice to look at, but it doesn't anticipate our back loaded schedule. We'll see how those stats stack up against previous editions after we've played teams like the Patriots, Cards, and the suddenly potent Falcons. We have 5 games left on our schedule that are against opponents with offenses ranked in the top 6 in the league, and that's not counting the Patriots, who by the time we face them, will have had several weeks to get Brady back up to speed.

Here's a cool stat that cannot be massaged to fit a narrative:
The Seahawks now have played 77 straight games without losing by more than 10 points. That is now the longest streak in pro football history, as they passed the Decatur Staleys-turned-Chicago Staleys-turned Chicago Bears streak of 74 straight set from 1920 to 1925, per Pro-Football-Reference.co

Interesting reading. The last graphic with the green dots really tells a story about our D over the last 4 years.
We all know that the first 1/4 of a season does not a full season make, but the numbers are encouraging. This team is special and super fun to watch. It is very hard for us old folks to ban the feeling that it's all going to come crashing down soon, as it was like that nearly every year until 2012. We have been given a gift these past years of success - here's hoping it lasts.

That may be the most impressive stat of any - especially when a team beats a record that was almost a 100 Years Old.

Unless i am mistaken Russ has started almost all of those as well.
I was texting my buddies down 31 at halftime of the Carolina playoff game saying "its not over'.I wasn't very wrong.
Granted there were screwdrivers and other party favors involved but still, its never time to go mow the lawn when the Hawks are playing anymore.

I saw that. As you know, I'm no stats monkey, but that one, a team stat that translates well across the decades, is IMO more impressive than any of the various individual stats and accomplishments that's been bandied about in this forum. I'm surprised that it's not getting more nation wide notice.

Wow , we are doing great and the sky is the limit. Hope we win out or at least win our next game vs the dirty birds.

If it was a stat in a large market like NY or Dallas, we wouldn't hear the end of it, but it is a good stat to hang your hat on and even if it's broken this weekend, it still shows the dominance of our Defense over a period of time. And nobody can take that away from those guys.

The 77 straight games w/o losing by more than 10 points translates very well across the decades. It's not influenced by rule changes, by the style of play, or by the length of the schedule. About the only factor that makes some eras different than others is free agency, and that should make our accomplishment more difficult as it happened during a time of unprecedented parity.
You're absolutely right about it not getting any press around the country because it's in a small or mid size market. You can bet your bottom nickel that if it were New England or Dallas that achieved what we did, it would be the lead story in every sports talk show in the country.
