Sounds more hopeful than those in the past who just used the visit for more leverage, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Yeah, same with me....I remember a Charger O-lineman, name slips my mind, but he was a main cog in the line for Tomlinson and visited here, all reports pointed to a deal being done, and at the last second, he bailed out and re-signed with the Chargers. But, I have to say my hopes are up now, so it better happen :D

If Lang signs here, what is the line going to look like?

Joeckel/Glowinski/Britt/Lang/Ifedi ?

Ifedi to RT? That would be interesting. Did we give him a chance at RT last training camp or just make him the guard?

I would guess Ifedi would move to RT. I wouldn't want to experiment further along the OL with a new player who's biggest success has been at RG. Sometimes it's best to leave well enough alone. But you never know with Cable.

Assuming Lang signs, which we're all getting ahead of ourselves, they'll probably let him play whatever position he wants. You know the old joke: Where does a 500 lb gorilla sleep? Anywhere he wants to. It's a seller's market and Lang has options, so it seems to me that which position he plays would definitely have to be included in Seattle's sales pitch, and guard seems to be his comfort zone.

I know that Pete and Cable were adamant about leaving Ifedi at RG, but my guess is that if Lang signs, they'll move him out to RT.

Lots of reasons to stay tuned today, with Selection Sunday and the potential news of Lang signing on the sports docket.

Meh. Time will tell. Seattle has been left at the free agent altar more times than not......

As the article points out; Seattle is no longer the "burnt piece of toast", now we're the desirable landing spot.

If he hasn't made the decision to stay by now then we are being used for leverage, sorry to say.
We've seen this story play out in the past.

He says at 0830 on the day he's said to be making the decision ...

Impatient much?

Yup. Fool's gold.

Nice call, Crum. At least now I can concentrate on building my cheat sheet for tomorrow's March Madness draft.

Any bets on how long it takes our resident troll to enter the thread?

No worries. Apparently there are a couple of groundskeepers at the VMAC who have nifty footwork. The brain trust feels they may be adept at the ZBS......

Yea, Russell getting dinged up so much last season must have put a scare into them.

The odds of finding an OT in the draft that's ready to start are practically nill. Let's hope that Joeckel pans out and that Fant develops. Otherwise, it's going to be more of the S.O.S.

There are a couple of RT's that look like they could play. The guy I'd like to get is Taylor Moton.
It would be good to see all 5 grow together into a cohesive unit.

Haven't read details...but, geez. I guess he isn't interested in a legitimate chance to win a SB ring.

The Lions did make the playoffs last season, so I guess it depends on how you spin it as to your definition of the term "legitimate."

The other thing to keep in mind is that in Mathew Stafford, he has a pure pocket passing quarterback to block for. Linemen hate blocking for QB's like Russell as you can never figure out where they're going to be, hold onto the ball for an eternity trying to escape, run into sacks, etc.

I'm not sure if either of those things had anything to do with Lang's decision, but we have to keep in mind that as Seahawk fans, we look at the NFL world through blue and green tinted glasses of the type that others don't necessarily wear.

My understanding (from listening to sports talk radio, can't remember which show) is that he left Seattle 99% sure he was going to sign with the Seahawks and it was the wife that talked him into moving back home to Detroit for similar money.

I read that as well, and later I read that Detroit offered more money on top of it.
I got the impression we offered as much as we were willing to and weren't interested in getting into a bigger bidding war.
