Good news so far. At least he seems to be taking it seriously.
He has 5 more weigh-ins and needs to be at 245, so he should be able to shed 5 more lbs.
Keeping it off will be the test.

Edit: I wonder if they would be better off with a fat% measurement included instead of just weight? 250lbs of solid muscle is better than 245 at 30% fat.
What I'm getting at is I hope it isn't mostly aerobic exercise where he could lose muscle mass and not strength training.
I would think that the training staff is watching for that, though.

[quote="Vegaseahawk"Looks like he made weight[/quote]

Really, we have to pay a guy to make weight??? I think he makes weight and then eats his way to 260 by game 3. Hope I am wrong.

It's an incentive, but I know it does sound bad. Some people just over eat or eat poorly, so this way we risk less financially and maybe get a player that can make a difference.

I had the same thoughts, both the first (that it should be body composition more so than weight) and the second (staff will likely be queued in on that, too). The Hawks seem to spare no expense hiring great nutrition and wellness staff and I am sure they all over this like a duck on a June bug. And what'll keep him from eating his way to 260 lbs by game three is regular weigh-ins with $$$ as the carrot (though he could probably eat some carrots too, if he wants. I'm sure the staff will help him eat well and motivate him to keep at it. If they can stay healthy, the competition between Lacy and Rawls should prove interesting. Add a lil Procise in the mix (he needs to stay healthy too), and we could have a solid backfield this year.

I am so happy for the Seahawks this year with a new rb like Lacy we will get close to 3000 yards with Rawls and Wilson. I hope Lacy gets 1500 all by himself then Rawls 1000 with 500 for Wilson no make that 800 for Wilson behind a new rb like Lacy and the OL and we have another great runner.

Seriously though I think Lacy gets 1500 all by himself then Rawls 800-1000. We have improved on the Seahawks running game.

Ain't gonna happen. Lacy will be used as a goal line/short yardage back. Rawls will be the featured back.

Not sure I agree. I think Lacy might just be the workhorse and Rawls the change of pace. It all depends on how much of a workhorse Lacy can be.

Two running backs on the same team with 1000+ yards each has happened just 5 times in the history of the game, so I think you're engaging in some wishful thinking, especially given the situation we have on the offensive line.

But seeing that Lacy appears to have his weight under control is good news. He could be the steal of the year if he returns to his rookie form.

That is the absolute best case scenario. But the reality of injuries, conditioning, Prosise, etc. make this pretty unlikely.

Personally I think it will be Rawls who will be the primary back.

It's all a moot point until we see VAST improvement from the OL........
