So young, too, only 48.
I'm glad he got to see himself in the HoF, but this is horrible news.

This is such sad news. RIP, TEZ! I'm crushed too, Bob. What the heck happened? 48

Thank you, TEZ, for ALL that you gave us.

RIP wow. Tez was one of the best nose guards I've ever seen in the history of the game and seemed like a super nice humble guy as well.

I always thought he was one of the first extremely active big men on the DL.
You would see him in on tackles 20 yards downfield which was almost unheard of 25 years ago for a 300+ lb man.

I heard that he was diabetic and had been in the hospital - per Tom Flores on NFL SIRIUS. Not sure if it is the cause or if that was the case. Flores seemed kind of loopy. We shall see.

That could make for an early demise. I wish his family well going forward.

It's truly a sad day for the Seahawks and the fans. May he rest in peace knowing he was one of the greatest of all-time.

He was as happy for the fan base when we finally won the SB as any former player I ever saw!
He was as a good a guy as he was great! He will be missed.

RIP TEZ!!

Its too bad he never really had the team around him in his prime. But his feat of accomplishing double digit sacks from the tackle position facing double and triple teams every down in the Jerome Brown memorial season on a 2-14 team was incredible. It not only earned him defensive player of the year but was one of the most amazing individual seasons every for any Seahawk all time.

For three or four season right around then he was absolutely unblockable, no matter how many guys you put on him ... as great as any DT that has ever played. But I think, more than anything else, that that season put him in the Hall.

I don't know if that's ever been done in any league, an MVP on a team that had a winning percentage of less than 15%. A lot of people would think it an oxymoron to consider anyone on a team that bad as being "Most Valuable" as the question would be how well would they have done without them?

The one positive thing is that at least he got inducted into the HOF before he died. It would have been a shame for him to have been admitted posthumously.

Thanks for the link, North.

I read Kam's post yesterday. He spoke of Tez and how much winning the Super Bowl meant to him all those years later. I sincerely hope that players on the defense look at the tapes of that 1992 defense. Had they not been opposite the 5th worst offense in the history of the game at that point, their 5th ranked position would likely have been first. Dave Wyman said TEZ never complained about the offense and instead focused on doing his job. He talked about a game against the Raiders where they gave up fewer than 175 yards and lost 23-3. And yet that D never whined. I realize it is a different time and I know that not everyone is a TEZ. I don't want to use this moment in ghoulish fashion either. I'm just making the point that I hope the current D can gain something from this loss. Tez played in one playoff game in his career. Recognize the gift of being on a team that has made it to so many playoff games and wins a whole helluva lot more than it loses.

Had to come back to express my sadness and condolences over this news with the only group of people that I have a connection to, who actually understand how Great as a player and a man Cortez Kennedy was and what he meant to this franchise.

I am all the more grateful now that Mike Sando made it his personal crusade to get Tez into the HOF so he was able to stand on that stage and bask in the recognition that he earned but for had too long gone unnoticed. He will truly be missed.

Hey, Kal, my old friend! Good to see you again. You've been missed.

All three of our Seahawk HOF'ers are decent, quality guys. We may not have the numbers of HOF players other teams do, but no one tops our quality.

Hey Riv. Just one small correction. All 4 of our guys are good... considering Easley going in (finally) this year.
