Linebacker Changes

We swapped Kevin Pierre-Louis for KC's DJ Alexander and picked up Marcus Smith from the Eagles after he was cut.
More competition and ST players, I suppose.

KPL, as much upside as he had, never really panned out. Alexander was a pro-bowl special teams player & I rather like the sound of that.

I didn't know about Alexander and his ST play.
Sounds like a real good move if he can still produce at that level.

KPL's "hold" in the playoff game killed us. Not sorry seeing him go, and we got at least one ST gem..... Gotta like this.

Both are exceptional athletes that never lived up to expectations, sometimes a change is just what the doctor ordered. This could be a good trade on all sides.

On a different note, we re-signed FB Marcel Reece.

Sometimes all the player needed was a change. Some times a different coaching staff can bring out of a player the talent that their former c9aching staff could not. I have always liked Reece, he is welcome, welcome indeed.

Looks like PC & Company are addressing the need for greater depth, keep it up boys and it will be the Pats. Vs. Seahawks again in the S.B.. Maybe this time we take the crown off of THEIR heads...

When training camp begins on Sunday, no position will have undergone more offseason change than linebacker. Starters K.J. Wright and Bobby Wagner are back. So is Ronald Powell, whom the Seahawks signed off the Bears’ practice squad last December. Then there’s Dewey McDonald, who is a special-teams ace but kind of a tweener between linebacker and safety. Throw in former Coug Kache Palacio, who was in training camp last year, and then half a dozen newcomers and you’ve got a pretty wide open competition to make this team at linebacker.

Mike Morgan coming back. I'm surprised it took them this long, as he's been in the system for a while. Lots of competition at that spot.
