Best O-Line Performance Sunday

Postby Largent80 » Mon Aug 14, 2017 5:15 pm

This is easy.

Pocic. He plowed thru everything in front of him and did it in 2 different positions.

This guy needs to start somewhere on this line.

I didn't think he practiced at Center in TC. All I heard was T and G, but he sure looked comfortable at C even if it was against 2nd or 3rd string players.

Can't tell if this makes me hopeful or really, really depressed.

Why depressed?
He looked comfortable playing at a better level than college.

I thought Joeckel did pretty good too. He's coming off those 2 bad knee injuries. Really rooting for the guy, and of course J.S. who paid him 7 Mil.

Depressed that after all this time, the best looking player is a rookie, playing out of position, in his very first game. That says more about this OL than I wish it said.

Thanks for the downer, Oly. :(
I thought it showed that maybe they finally got an OL draft choice right.

Even the village crazy person gets things right by accident on occasion.

Ifedi and Glowinski are DUMP Trucks. Ifedi is a lumbering fool, and Glowinski is just plain bad. NEITHER of these guys should be starting in my opinion.

The team rushed for over 100 yards although the 3.7 ypc wasn't impressive but they only surrendered ONE sack despite 3 different QBs playing.
It was a good performance period...

Take out the QB scrambles and the actual RB average was 2.7 which stinks.

It's a team game and especially so on the OL.
Ifedi is a rookie at RT and Glowinski has only played sparingly at RG so there are going to be issues.
Maybe Aboushi might be a better combination with Ifedi even if not particularly talented, he can be at least somewhat steady and predictable.

Put Aboushi at RG and Pocic at RT. Britt, Joeckel, and Fant. Maybe even Roos or Rees at RG.

Perhaps missing a week+ of TC set Ifedi back and he will account for Sunday's mistakes tis Friday (or week 3 of the pre-season) by not blundering his assignments. And in fairness to him, both Cable and Ray Roberts have expressed reasons for optimism re: Ifedi and his nastiness and upside, though Pocic looked pretty nasty to me. I really do not care who it is, I just want the BEST 5; the 5 most capable of collectively making holes and protecting RW - whoever they are. For now, however, I'm riding with my prediction from earlier in the month.

In the thread titled: Good Article About Offensive Line - Postby Hawk Sista » Mon Aug 07, 2017 10:46 am

This is my best guess as to the starting 5 on opening day: LT - Fant, RG - Luke, C - Britt, RG - Aboushi, RT - Pocic.

Im nasty but im no o lineman.

Im tired of hearing this nasty thing and how I appies to actually blocking the guy in front of you.

If that's the case Ifedi is Nasty at whiffin. He has whiffing down to a science.

LOL. I hear that, Larget80. His nastiness will get RW injured if he doesn't get himself where he needs to be. Game one of preseason may be a little too early to tell, especially with Ifedi missing time. But I'm liking what I see in Pocic so far.

Pocic will end up a Center next year when they don't re-sign Britt so he better get some playing time on the interior of the line.
It's apparently the Seahawk way.

Good point, NH. I have considered that they may elect to start Ifedi at RT over Pocic in part so Jr. Pocic can learn.... and it could be more seamless to have the versatile rookie step in at any of the other 4 positions (injury or under-performance substitution) w/ the least disruption. So were he to start at RT and be needed elsewhere, there would be more movement/disruption along the line mid-season to pull Pocic from a starting (& so perhaps gelling/cohesive) place to fill in elsewhere. This is admittedly lame...but it has been a thought of mine. I didn't consider the Britt FA factor. That "could" be a real thing, indeed. I think one think is for sure, Hunt is gone..

I think she means that, with Britt and Pocic on the roster, Hunt will not make the final cut.

He may not make the cut, but they have a years worth of investment in him.

First... on my hypothesis - PC is wired to play BPA, which is wise and what he should do! So they wouldn't do that anyway.

Second, I am suggesting Joey does not make the final 53. Is he PS eligible?

If they keep 9, I'd guess Fant, Luke, Britt, Aboushi, Pocic, ifedi, Roos, odhiambo & glow.

I think Joeckel fits in there somewhere.

She had him, but "Luke" is easier to spell :-)

According to Gregg Bell from the News Tribune, the left side sista mentioned (and others have called) is set: Fant -- Joeckel -- Britt
