Hawks bringing in Desmond Bryant for a tryout. Also Ahmad Brooks released by the 9ers.

Trade Eddie Lacy to the Chiefs.
He's in shape, and KC needs someone w experience to compete there now.

The Carson kid is worth taking a shot on.
Rawls and Prosise are due to have healthy seasons.
Well, aren't they?:)

There's still a lot of doubt regarding Lockett's ability to fully recover from one of the most gruesome injuries in sport. Additionally, there's a bit of a logjam at WR, which has always been a position where decent, serviceable players are a dime a dozen. I like Lockett, too, but currently, this team is out of balance, especially on offensive, as we are top heavy at the skill positions and woefully thin in the big ugly department. The old saying that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link applies here.

But good OL's, in particular, good LT's, are extremely rare, as our attempts to permanently fill that cornerstone over the course of two regimes and nearly 10 years since Walt's retiring has shown. Like Cbob, I'd jump on this proposed trade like a chicken on a June bug.

Me too, but for a 29 year old 5x Pro Bowl LT? In a heartbeat! We've got depth at reciever, we have no decent options at LT.

They would have to make some big changes elsewhere for Cap room.
According to Spotrac, Williams Cap hit is $14 million more than Lockett.
They'd have to give up or restructure a lot of contracts to get the kind of room as the current estimated room is about $8 million.
Teams like to keep a few million in reserve to cover injuries, so it would take some serious changes or maybe cuts to get there.

It simply isn't going to happen anyway. Lockett by the way is going to be fine and he will kick ass this year.

The Bears lost their # 1 wideout to an ACL. I wonder what they have to offer.

With our depth at WR I wouldn't mind trading away Jermaine Kearse.

Trade Lacy, if you can. I thought Pete was all about competition, not someone who needs to be "motivated" into showing up to camp in shape.

Any time a team has to put weight stipulations into a players contract that is a player they should never have been associated with. If his coaches had not have coddled him his entire career he wouldn't be showing up to camp fat and out of shape, EVER.

Maybe it is nothing, but a lot of legit stories start out this way. Someone reports "sources say" then details get added later. I would say it has some weight considering the amount of talent the Seahawks would like to keep at WR.

I am sure the Hawks would like to trade Kearse and his contract. Although he is coming off a bad year and hasn't shown much this pre-season it wouldn't shock me for a team to take a chance on trading a late round pick for him. The plus for a team trading for him is that there would be only a small financial risk this year (2.2 mil) and then they can cut him next year with no penalty and he has been a productive receiver in this league with some really big catches under his belt.

90 to 53 creates more trade scenarios than 90 to 75 to 53. Should be an interesting week to say the least.

In case you missed it, Kearse caught all three passes thrown his way last game and one of those was a very sweet grab. To me none of the new guys have done squat.

I agree Kearse has to go, but I am not sold out to PR or TL. Way too many injuries.

Kearse needs to go before we go to GB, one way or another. All 4 of Russ's picks in the 2014 NFC title game targeted Kearse and at least 2 were on him. Of course there was the money catch in OT but if he had squeezed the other 2 it wouldn't have been close to overtime anyway. I think another 2 were targeting him in the massacre in GB last year.

At one point around midseason last year he had been targeted as many times in the red zone as Julio Jones with not a single TD to show for it. He caught half the passes thrown his way, absolutely horrid. He flubbed about 40 balls!!!!
He needs to go to force Russ from targeting his insecurity blanket and start throwing to some true playmakers.
If not a trade which frankly there are better options for teams then sad as it is he needs to be released.

The avalanche of cuts coming the next couple of days.
Some surprises will happen, I'm sure but we need Cap room to move.

Something is definitely in the works. The loss of McDowell even though a rookie tells me they are going to snag a body for the D-Line. Sheldon Richardson???

There's half your $11M you asked me about in the other thread L80, and with over 13 total cap space right now and this being the first restructure we've done this year, we can get whoever we want if they'll help the team.

This is why I don't sweat the cap when someone asks "how are we gonna afford that?" ... we got people paid to worry about that, let them sweat it.

I don't usually sweat the Cap stuff, either but we don't have much history of restructuring contracts for Cap room.
I can't think of many others that JS has done, if any other than Baldwin.

Well it's better business not to if you don't have to because doing so just puts more of a crimp in future cap years. The point is there is almost always something that can be done (especially for a team that hasn't already restructured all of it's big contracts) when a need arises. I think last year's experiences with out O-line difficulty may well have caused us to recognize losing our starting LT this year as just the sort of need arising that justifies some restructuring.

We just traded a late round draft pick for the Patriots Justin Coleman, an inexpensive possible replacement for Jeremy Lane should we happen to do something with him.
