According to Spotrac, the Cap hit would be $11.5 million.
As I said in another post, the estimated Cap room is $8 million, so with a reserve of 4 to 5 million for injuries, they would have to shed about $7 million or more in existing salaries.

Thomas is on the backside of his career. Sorry but you are giving up a lot of role players for one.

That's what bean counters are for. If the player's worth it you make the deal and then do what you have to do to make it fit. Besides, it wouldn't be 11 mil because a new, more cap friendly contract would likely be part of the deal.
