Dolphins trying to trade for Sherman

Postby NorthHawk » Sun Sep 17, 2017 8:46 am

NFL Radio reported this morning that the Dolphins are trying to get Sherman.
With our lousy Offense, it would be a big gamble to weaken our Defense, but who knows what they are dangling in return.

What I read was that they were trying to trade for him during the offseason (and we were listening, thus the "Sherman on the trading block" noise), are they still trying?

Best I could find is an article from Jason La Canfora that indicates the two teams have been talking about Sherman often, as recently as last month...

As he states, we'll have to wait and see how the season goes, but if we get off to another slow start, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a deal happen later next month.

We're watching Sherm in his last year as a Hawk.

This would be unfortunate. Then I'm starting to sympathize with Sherm since Pete seems to have "Always Compete" philosophy for everyone but the coaches. There's no way his philosophy should be overlooking Cable and Bevell's failures.

Trading Sherman for me would be like when the Sonics traded Dennis Johnson, I was mad for a Long Long time. I didn't go to a game until the Bickerstaff era...

I love Sherm and I'm disappointed by him all at once. He played a great game AGAIN today and he's clearly one of the best CB's of his era. He's the best tackling CB currently and would have to be in the conversation for best of all time.

But then he goes on tv and not so passive aggressively, calls out the O on multiple occasions. Talk to the 92 D (w/ Tez & co.) and ask them how often they whined about one of the worst offenses in league history. And he seems to want out. It bums me out!!!

I love him, respect his game and understand his fire. But all-in-all...he's had a pretty effin awesome squad to run w/ here. Speaking of love/hate, I'd love/hate for him to go to the Fins (or worse) and find out how good he's had it in the PNW.

If he's going as a FA, he's going to join Gus in Atlanta or NE and it's not about the $$$$$$.
