Another interesting wrinkle for today's game

49ers defensive coordinator is Robert Saleh. Some of you will recognize that name, he used to be our defensive quality control coach.

His defense is a byproduct of his years with Pete. It looks similar (in design) to ours. Everyone knows our defense is not a complicated one...they rely on athleticism more than scheme. We run very simple concepts and don't add a lot of wrinkles.

What will be interesting (for me) to see is how our offense attacks our defense. In other words, how Pete and company feel is the best way to attack their type of D.

Which means they will go vanilla so they don't give anyone else ideas.

Nah, the book has been out on our D for years. Its not hard schematically; having the players to do it is the challenge.

There are holes in our zones. The good ones (Rodgers, Brady, Ryan, Brees) can exploit them.

Exactly. A FS like Earl (to allow the rest of the backfield to take chances), and a hearty pass rush being the most important components.
