Odhiambo is probably not coming back until after the bye and maybe not even then, So that leaves us with Tobin and Battle. Also we could slide Joeckel out there, but I'm thinking they keep him there for continuity.

I think if they put Battle in there it might be to see how he does long term as Pete has said he really likes him.

Tobin seems like a stop gap, but either way this is not a good scenario for the Hawks. Especially going to LA where it seems like it doesn't matter who is on our line.

I've got my fingers crossed for a trade, but I think if they were going to do that they would have by now ...

There aren't many LT's available that are worth giving up the price.
I doubt the Texans give up on their LT who's holding out, (Name escapes me) as legitimate LT's are too difficult to find.

Bummer. I really liked Rees and his ability to play whole games without a penalty. I think he hasn't been flagged at all this season - at least I can't remember him being flagged.

Since Walt retired, how many starting left tackles will this be for us?

Geez, that's a good question.
I remember in the old PI forum some of us saying we will be lucky to get a solid starting LT when Walt retires and it's proving true although Okung was pretty good when healthy.
I'm still wondering about what we ask of our OL in that players that got hurt regularly here seem to stay healthier on other teams. Carpenter hasn't missed any games as a Jet and Okung's first year outside of Seattle was his first full season.
Are we doing something different that could account for this or is it just bad luck?

That is a good question. Off the top of my head:

Sean Locklear
Kyle Williams (Mora year)
Damien Macintosh (Mora year)
Paul McQuistan
Tyler Polumbus
Russel Okung
Bradley Sowell
George Fant

Sure was nice to have big Walt.

Just Largent bubba, we went from 9-7 7-9 to 1-15. We realize how great the great players are when they leave.

Odhiambo practiced today and it sounds promising for him to start.
He's not there, yet as a LT, but with some experience he may be a solid backup or maybe some day a reasonable starter.

Rees will be a starter in the league for a long time. Maybe not with us because who knows what Cable is looking for. If they go to straight up blocking, Rees is one strong athletic dude that will pave road ways for a long time to come.

If you notice, ever since pre-season when we need a yard, they usually run behind Luke and Rees on the left and not Ifedi on the right.
