The #Seahawks plan to drive down #Texans asking price for Duane Brown by working out Brandon Albert is working as intended.

Interesting. Thanks for the heads up.

It looks like we can't afford either one of these guys. Are we just going through the motions or can something truly be done to get one of these guys in here?

I think if we're looking at a trade for Brown we may be looking at a player trade.

There are also a great many restructure opportunities we could look at as well, as did with Dougy; we created $5.2 in cap space by converting most of his base salary this year to signing bonus in September to make room for Sheldon Richardson. I never worry about cap space for a player we're interested in ... if the want to is there the means are there as well.

The Texans lost both Watt and Mercilus to injury last week, so maybe one of the veteran LB's and a draft pick for Brown?
I can't see them trading any DL because of the loss of Avril and having traded away Cassius Marsh.

HELL NO to Bobby or KJ leaving! More like Willhoit or Garvin.

And Bennett is hurt. The foot injury seems to keep coming back. It may be long-term degenerative.

Yep. It's almost a foregone conclusion that we'll keep Richardson. That trade is looking better and better.

I was thinking Wilhoit or Garvin and thought it went without saying we keep Wags or KJ.
I should have said one of our recent veteran LB pickups.

Lanes name has surfaced in this discussion.

Definitely a possibility. They really like Griffin and Shead is close to being back, which could make Lane expendable.

North - I knew what you meant. Someone else chimes in W/ Wags or KJ. Unfortunately for us, I think it’d take something like that to get him. Even w/ injuries they’ve suffered, I doubt that Garvin & Lane is gonna cut it.

Add a draft pick and we might get close.
Didn't we already give up a pick for someone, though?

As for Lane, I think he might be enough combined with a next year's pick for a disgruntled player no matter how good he is. And he didn't play this week when he could have and he is tweeting suspicions conversations with himself that seem to be hinting he may have gotten wind of an impending change of venue ...

But I it might take someone like Jimmy Graham (their best TE's best season is half a JG season and even without JJ they are still a dynamic defensive team) to turn the trick. I'd hate to see Jimmy go but I'd be OK with the deal if it were to go down.

Lane.... what are you thinking, Bruh? Stay in your Lane is exactly what he should have done. Bob, I had the same thought. We are a little more than a quarter of the way through the season and Jimmy is an FA next year. That said, Doug is banged up and Tyler and P-Rich cannot seem to stay healthy. This makes a JG exit more complicated, but one simply cannot have everything. #toughchoices.

North - we gave up a 2nd for Sheldon Richardson. If he stays with us, it's worth it! If he goes via free agency after the season, we will get a 3rd round compensatory pick for losing him - so it'll still be worth it. All of that said, we do not have a second next year.

Thanks. A 2nd for Richardson.
I think it was worth it, too but I'd hate to give up a 3rd or 1st for Brown if it came down to it.
I suppose JS will trade down with the 1st round pick anyway so maybe it might work out.

Brown will command too much money.

There's no guarantee that Joke-L will be ready after the bye, so anyone they bring in will be to sub for him on the oline. I don't see bringing in ANOTHER LT, so I highly doubt this works out.

Any yet the word is they are discussing Brown. JS has a bit of a history of swinging for the fences in trades so who knows what's going on behind the scenes.

Maybe it'll be Albert ...

It looks like Brandon Albert either never left Seattle to interview with the Giants or came back because Bob Condotta places him back in town as of last night:

Bob Condotta @bcondotta
Hearing Branden Albert is still in the Seattle area. Not sure what that means for signing or not signing with Seahawks though.

Or are we playing one player (and agent) against the other to get the best deal?

Likely a bit of both ...

17 days until the trade deadline.
No talk about Joe Thomas this year?

Edit:
As of last night, Branden Albert was still in Seattle at 10pm.
I would think they were trying to hammer out a deal.

Players get paid on bye weeks. I bet we see something come Tuesday. Cheaper

At least it's on their radar.
Anything but, 'we're almost there' when it comes to OL.
Killing me with that b.s.

No,I don't believe they do. As far as I know their salaries are paid in 16 game checks.

Well if something is going to happen it will happen today so that the player will have a full week with the team. I wonder who we will release to sign someone else?

According to this site:
https://www.profootballrumors.com/seatt ... ews-rumors
The holdup with Albert is money and they are now trying to trade for Duane Brown.
It might take a hefty load of picks or good talent to get him with all of the injuries across the league this year and the lack of quality LT's in the league.

Cordy Glenn looks to be in the mix as well: https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2017/1 ... on-dawkins

Glenn has been nicked up this year with a bad ankle, so it might not be a good idea. If healthy, he could be a good pick up, but what would we give away, maybe Graham since we're trying to turn him into a blocker?
I still think it's going to be one of the other two, and probably Albert because JS loves his draft picks.
But at the end of the day, I don't know crap about what they are thinking.
