Makes me happy, I wanted him to take over back when it was between him and Richard.

I see him being more effective on the sidelines than the press box. Maybe the team will work out a way for him to be where the action is.

Hell yeah. Not sure how well he scan scheme or call a defense, but Pete can handle that. I am sure he will have those guys ready to ram their heads through a steel wall on the field.

I too was surprised when Richard got the promotion and Ken. Jr. left. So, I always thought until this season that the Richard promotion had been a mistake, but Kris sure earned his pay this season, and then some. I like the move better than the B.S. move.
.
Solari as the O-L coach ? I have heard good things about him, can't be worse than TC

I agree I this what should have been done in the first place. I love this move, at least he has some enthusiasm!

He's been at Pete's side since his days at USC and knows the ins and outs of the philosophy.
He's also won a fistful of Super Bowl rings as a player and coach, but even more, I think he gets immediate respect from all the players.
On the whole, I think it's a good move to have him back. I think he can read the Defense's emotional state pretty well and probably knows
how to press the right buttons (collectively).

I think that respect angle is HUGE. That defense has some serious attitude, and if the players don't respect the coaches bad things happen...as we have seen since the SB debacle. If KNJ can get the players' respect, and he can, then I see this defense getting hungry again.

Don't love this hire. It seemed like he was a good position coach but I'm not sold on him as a coordinator. His D in Oakland, with some of the best young players in the league wasn't very good.

In 2015 his D Ranked: 22nd in total yards (pass 26th and rush 12); scoring D ranked 22nd

In 2016: 26th total yards (pass 24th and rush 22nd); scoring D 19th

But the biggest area of concern for me was his 2017 season. When he was let go (after week 10) The Raiders were 26th in the league in yards and by the end of the season they moved up to 19th (Moved up 7 positions in 6 weeks)... The also went from the 2nd worst scoring D (25 pts/game) to 23 pts/game which was 19th...

To me these numbers do not inspire confidence. That's not to say that he won't learn from his stint in Oakland or that he won't be more successful running PC's scheme than Del Rio's.

Number crunching is best done when you consider every state also the intangibles that doesn't have a Super Bowl attached to it.

Lambo please leave us alone ! Go to another board !

I think it's quite difficult to run your Defense when your boss is hands on with his concepts.
It would be like Pete hiring Wade Phillips and constantly wanting to do things differently.
It up just wouldn't be successful.

I'm not too worried about who we hire as DC. Norton seems to me to be a coach that the players respect, something that wasn't always evident when Richard was calling the shots (remember Sherman's tirades?), which in my mind is an essential attribute. The real DC of this team is Pete Carroll.

Seems Norton went with the Niners just long enough to get in their building and hopefully grab their playbook

Or he was there just long enough for them to grab his playbook.

Welcome Aussie.

Everyone knows Seattle's Defense. It's just difficult to beat if executed properly.
