This one caught me by surprise! He's a good coach IMO but the talent level of the team has declined steadily in the last several years. GB reminds me a lot of Seattle in the sense that they were poised to become a dynasty, didn't quite make it and is now on the decline as the talent was siphoned off to other franchises after hitting the peak and experiencing some success.

Kind of shocking and really pretty low class move 3 hours after a loss . Not a real big McCarthy fan but dude delivered 11 playoff teams and a Lombardi and probably didn’t deserve getting canned on the spot . And for any hawks fans penciling in an automatic W with the tards coming to town better smell the coffee. In the nfl it’s any given Sunday

Well they only gave him a 1 year extension, which in and of itself is kind of a "win now" message, and Lord Aaron has been openly critical of him recently ... can't say I'm shocked other than the fact that I disagree with in-season coaching changes as a rule and thought the Packers were better run than that.

I have a Packers fan/friend that was hoping for and predicting that Mac would get fired by year's end. Doing it now gives the Pack a leg up on the 5-6 other teams that will be dismissing their HC's in finding a replacement.

Love the moniker "lord Aaron" Cbob.
Rodgers has been critical of the coach because he can't criticize himself and his huge contract. When teams pay that much for one player it hurts depth. GB may have had a shot at the post season but injuries and lack of depth just slapped them down. This is what the NFL wanted with the stupid "Parody" goal.
I think that he will get a new contract somewhere and I hope it isn't in the NFC since we usually struggled against his teams.

I'm sure McCarthy will be coaching in the NFL next year.
I think he would do well in Cleveland with a Defense that's on the rise and a good young QB
Having a SB win as a HC should give him a leg up on others that might want that job and with the potential
of a very good Defense in the making, he would do well there.

Not a surprise to me. The Pack is doomed long term. Brady, Ben, and Brees all take pay cuts, not AR. AR sucks up 30 million of the cap, you cannot win like that.

Thanks, and I agree, he can't very well blame himself can he (whatever will he do now?) ... So glad we have a QB that accepts blame and shares credit. Hopefully we won't have hamstring ourselves to keep him.

Rogers turned into a whiny money and oxygen syphon!
His family even does not talk to him

Rodgers is like a Jeff George that made good. Incredible arm and talent off the charts and a terrible coach killing attitude. He's not ever been a leader wearing his emotions on his sleeve when its going bad, whining on the podium after losses, tossing teammates and his coach under the bus. He better win now. McCarthy wasn't the one missing wide open guys, audibling into bad plays and completing 61% of his passes. Guy is getting old.
Good luck to the next guy. Successful HCs don't just grow on trees.
I know how McCarthy feels though. Don't die of a thousand cuts. When your boss and your employees don't respect you get the hell out and they can see what they had when you're gone..They did him a favor. He will be in Cleveland.
