Earl is done as a Hawk, of course. He will hit FA next year and sign for way less than he wants. Probably a 2 year deal. IMHO.

Followed by a couple all pro / pro bowls, and a bust in Canton... simply looking long term. I've little doubt he gets less than he wants( and in many opinions deserves) but when everything is said and done in about 5 to 7 years, he's going to the hall. Hopefully, it's as a Seahawk.

I think his Hall coronation is yet to be created. I know he gets a SB ring for this year along with all the other Seahawks (when they win) but I'm not sure he will value it like it should be. That said, the problem Earl will have going forward is his ability to stay healthy. He's now broken one of his legs in 2 different seasons. I think that will impact how he plays the game and age will start to catch up to him in the way of speed. Soon he will be a good short free safety and that's about it. So the question is, did he do enough while as a Seahawk when he finally retires? I think it will depend on how much his play degrades over the coming years. If he goes out on the bottom the writers and voters will not remember the L.O.B days as fond as they do now.

I actually think that helps him for his next contract.

He could never play another down, and still get in the HOF. He was * if he never plays again* the best free safety of the decade. He plays mediocre for 2 to 3 more years, he's a first ballot HOF safety, he doesn't play again, he'll have to wait for a couple years.

Gone are the days where HOF safeties have to wait for a senior committee to get it right for a HOF safety in South Atlanta to get in. Seattle isn't invisible any more, the Seahawks national face is front and center, and Thomas was an enormous part of that.

You may very well be right but we won't know for a few years anyways. At least not until 2024 or so...
