Little off topic, but It's so hard to lose a baby -- can't imagine the grief they are going through. Maybe we can pray or in this PC ara, at least give thoughts to the family going forward.

Ahh, Jeez, that's tough. Seven weeks old, what a tragedy.

I had an older sister that died 2 days after her birth due to a birth defect. Neither of my parents ever spoke about it, and after mom died, all of her friends were unaware of it until I told them at mom's funeral. It was a subject that neither of them ever discussed. Scars like that never heal.

My younger brother and his wife lost a two year old daughter to the flu. Doctors worked on her for hours but there was nothing they could do. It devestatated them to the core they never got over it. Still to this day they celibate her birthday. I remember she let me hold her favorite doll and she gave me the best open mouthed kisses you ever had. I miss her very much.

I will be remembering them today in my daily prayers. I pray for their whole family. I also ask Jesus to be with Brandon as he plays the Patriots help Brandon to have a great game and win.

I heard this on the news last night and gave a little prayer for him and the family - especially for the little one.

Things like this can be devastating to a family and many don't make it after a tragedy like this. I hope 'bane and his wife can make it through this.

R.I.P. for his little girl. That's tough. Makes the rest of the world small again.

Yes, they do need our prayers. The death of a child can put a lot of stress on a marriage.

Five years before I was born my parents had a baby girl who died at 6 months. She had a heart condition but then got pneumonia and couldn't pull out of it. As I recall, my mother sort of blamed my dad for taking the family to stay with relatives during the winter months who lived in a drafty farm house. The baby caught a cold and things went from bad to worse. That was the beginning of a troubled marriage that ended in divorce when I was 12. That wasn't the only issue between them but it kind of kicked things off.

Sot pray for Brandon, his wife and their marriage.

As a parent, there is no greater nightmare. I cannot fathom that kind of pain. So sorry to read about this.

I can't think of anything more devastating than losing a child. No parent should ever have to bury their child, no matter what age.

My son is 4 years old, and I try to enjoy every precious moment we have together, because I know he'll grow up way too fast. People love to complain about their kids, but to me, it's all great, both the good days and bad days.

I second Oly and I5's comments. My wife lost her only child when he was 30 just as he was getting his life squared away. There is no greater hurt.

Kids are supposed to bury their parents, not the other way around. It literally turns the world upside down when you lose your offspring. That's not how it's supposed to work.

River,

Can I ask what happened with her son? I understand if you don't want to share or if it's too OT. It's very sad.

He died of some sort of seizure when he was 32. After talking with some of his friends, they told me that he was messing around with extracting an oil out of marijuana as it supposedly yields a really sustained high, but he did not refine it to remove the butane from it before using it which induced the seizures, or at least that's the theory. It's not a subject my wife likes discussing as she just tells people he died of a seizure. I haven't even told her everything about my conversations with his friends.

He was in and out of trouble all his life. On his 18th birthday, he was arrested as the driver in a drive-by shooting....which sounds really bad, but they were just shooting vacant parked cars with a .22, but they threw the book at all of them and assessed a heavy restitution that he could never pay off, especially after one of his buddies got thrown in the slam for negligent homicide and he had pay his restitution as well. He was always getting arrested for driving w/o a license, a DUI, petty larceny, domestic violence, that sort of stuff. I used to say that he wasn't a bad ass, just a perpetual phuck up. He had stayed out of trouble for several years and had enrolled in some vocational classes at a CC and was getting really good grades when he died. He was my wife's only child.

Thanks for asking, I-5

Thanks for the deets. That's scary stuff when people experiment with substances. No one starts out bad, and I'm sorry for him that things in his life went that way - I'm esp sorry for his mom.

Thanks again, I-5. Ironically, even though my wife would give anything to have him back, she admits that her stress level has gone way down since his death, and she realizes that there's worse ways in which his life could have ended. I guess you can say that she's made peace with it.

We always feel a certain ping when we see or hear about a parent losing their child.
