1. The Hawks, like all teams, had to submit a 53-man roster by 1:00pm PT yesterday (Saturday). What you see on the Seahawks.com website is the 'official' roster that we had to submit to the league in order to meet the deadline.
2. The Clowney trade was not finalized by 1:00pm. It is a 2-for-1 player deal, meaning that after the deal goes through and Mingo and Martin come off the roster and Clowney goes on, we'll have an extra roster spot.
3. Geno does not have to go through waivers, so apparently he's agreed to sit tight for 24 hours or so until the Clowney trade is finalized after which he'll resign with us and get our roster back up to 53.
4. Jaron Brown is apparently a cap casualty. We could have kept him had we wanted to, but now that we have to pay Clowney nearly $16M, it would have restricted out ability to sign or trade for other players, especially during this very active time when so many players are suddenly without teams.
I wonder if John Schneider gets overtime pay for working weekends?
