Runningback situation now

What do you guys think they should do about runningback , homer will be ok in space, but not every down and thru the middle effective, so they need to add one or two backs for the next two games, or does it really matter at this point? Notice I said next two games, I can’t see how they get more then that....

It’s to late in season to sign a retired player correct? There was rumblings of pats bringing back gronk, as he officially retired but that deadline past, and I believe Marshawn Lynch never officially retired that’s why people say to bring him back now.... but I can’t imagine him even remotely being close to game shape to be semi effective even tho he is a beast ..... but might be something to explore and probably do as well as what else is out there to bring in ....

I think they can sign any player not under contract or retired as well as any player
on another teams PS. If signed from a PS I think that player has to go on the
active roster which I don’t think is a problem in our situation.

Does somebody have a link to a clip showing the play where Prosise broke his arm? That guy has the weirdest injuries. His rookie season he fractured his shoulder blade if I recall.

Prosise is the most snakebit running back I can remember. At some point you have to move on. Its funny all the folks in here advocating trading penny because we had so much depth

I rather doubt there's a Chris Carson or Rashad Penney or a Prosise for that matter sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. Homer had 16 yards with a 17 yard run so I think we can see what he did the rest of the carries. Even if Lynch were out there we're doing some things different scheme wise with blocking so it isn't like we would plug him right in. Here's where PC, JS and Schotty got to earn their money. Bring in the best back you can but draw up a game plan that keeps your all pro QB standing up to burn teams with his arm. Design some routes to get guys open quick. One lost story yesterday was Lockett going 1-8 and Metcalf going 0-1 as Russ was only able to complete 3 balls to wideouts. Run as much as you can but if it isn't there hand the ball to Russ instead of killing drives with negative yards on run plays.


It's not necessarily lost. It's all in front of them still.

Im reminded of 83 when Curt Warner folded like a cheap suit in the season opener and Ground Chuck Knox gave the ball to Dave Krieg and 32 passing Tds later they were a 12-4 team. I'd say Russ is much better than Krieg although hes got no Largent . But lets just see.

Not to be picky, but that was '84 that Warner got hurt in the opener and that we went 12-4.

Lynch never signed retirement papers so he is just like any other FA... Gronk signed his papers so there was a date he would have had to come back by in order to be able to play.

That and we'd better get a good barf bucket. I was at a game when he was throwing up on the sidelines. Ironically, it turned out to be one of his better efforts that included a crotch grabbing Beastquake run down in Arizona.

Yeah, apparently Marshawn had some pregame jitters from time to time. Pete used to hold him out the first few minutes of a lot of games to get him settled down. It was kind of weird.

There's no displacement or soft tissue damage so I'd guess the standard 6 weeks it takes bone to heal.

Good point. There are differences, though. Jackson didn't fracture his hip like Carson apparently has. He dislocated it, which led to a bone disease that caused his having to have his hip replaced. Plus that was 1991, and medicine has progressed to the point where if Jackson suffered that injury today, it probably wouldn't have been career ending.
