Anthony Lynn

According to Tom Pelissero:

"Former #Chargers coach Anthony Lynn has spoken with Pete Carroll about the #Seahawks offensive coordinator job, sources tell me and
@RapSheet
. Lynn hasn’t decided what he wants to do in 2021, but he’d be among Seattle’s top choices.

As long as he's not making game and clock management decisions at the end of games I'm all for it. We've got enough trouble in that regard already!

I always like the idea of signing former HC's as coordinators. I think they bring some extra credibility in the minds of players.
Let's see if he's a fit with Russ and Pete.

Although he wasn't brought in as a coordinator, the hiring of former Raiders HC Tom Cable as OL cocah wasn't one of my favorite personnel moves.

He hasn't been hired yet.

Lynn is a former running back and RB coach but he seems to have done a good job working with rookie QB Justin Hebert. The Chargers ended the season with a 4 game winning streak, finishing just a tick under .500. I was surprised to see them let him go.

Pete seems pretty dictatorial when it comes to philosophy, which is one of the reasons why Schotty is no longer with us. I'm not sure how a former head coach is going to mesh. If we were to go with a former HC, I'd rather see us get Pederson as he's a quarterback coach and might be better suited to help Russell.

Pederson comes from the Andy Reid tree, so he might bring some creativity to our Offense - if Pete would let him.

That's a big 'if'.

Pederson has to have a lot of options, so my guess is that if he were to come here, that he would insist on some pretty fair autonomy over offensive philosophy.

I was stunned Pederson was fired after his incredible run just 3 years ago and producing a playoff team out of a mash unit, giving our Hawks a battle with Josh Mccown finishing the game. If he's from the Reid tree though he's not gonna be about pounding the rock so much which is the stated objective. I still suspect he may want to hold out for a HC job. Id love to see him come here.

The rub, or at least part of it, came over Carson Wentz:

Per Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Wentz's decision-making during games was described as going "rogue" when he would make "bizarre kills that made no sense" on plays called by head coach Doug Pederson.

In addition to those questionable decisions, one unnamed veteran player told McLane that Wentz's inability to accept responsibility for costing the team games is "a problem because he can’t get it corrected.”

McLane noted that some members of the Eagles organization feel the team gave Wentz too much power, particularly in the wake of their Super Bowl win after the 2017 season.

"They allowed him too much influence in the draft, free agency, and coaching decisions," McLane wrote. "And while he played a large role in getting to the title game, and to the postseason the next two years, he has only six playoff snaps in five years to his name."

One unnamed source told McLane that Wentz seems to have the perspective that's "kind of like whoever’s coaching him is working for him."

Per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Philadelphia is telling coaching candidates that it does "believe" in Wentz and wants him back for next season.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported on Jan. 3 that Wentz planned to ask for a trade this offseason because his relationship with Pederson was "fractured beyond repair."

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/100 ... new-report

That tells me that Pederson wanted Wentz out and Lurie wanted to keep him.

Sounds a lot like something I just read about Russell going forward and what HE wants.

There's no doubt that Russell has expressed his opinion on personnel matters, and in that regard, he's probably not a lot different from other veteran NFL QB's.. But I don't know how much actual influence he's had over them. My sense is that it's not very much.

More candidates are surfacing. Former Jets coach Adam Gase (shudder) and Chiefs QB coach Mike Kafka.

We need to keep Adam Gates as far away from our Football team as possible!

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN the Seahawks will also talk to Mike Kafka the current QB coach of KC.
It will be interesting who they get, but in Pederson and Kafka they are at least looking for OC's that could bring something different.

Two other names that have been linked to the Seahawks OC search are
Kirby Wilson current Raiders RB coach and former assistant of Petes at USC.
Joe Lombardi current QB coach of the Saints.

I suspect Wilson is the type Pete is looking for as he knows him and he can push his version of an Offense onto him easier.

Better just face the fact that the game has passed you by. Old team, old coach, old system, old QB, overpaid players.

Not going to happen

Apparently Kafka is off the table as KC has told him he will be there next OC when Bieniemy inevitably gets hired as a HC.

Thats fine but IF we hire Adam Gates I am off the Pete Carroll/John Schneider regime.

If Pete does take Gase as his OC, I won't be pleased but I'll wait to see how it works out before I jump completely off the bandwagon. I already have one foot off it and it won't take much of a bump for me to do a face plant.

The Seahawks seem to be mentioned with a lot of potential OCs lately.
My suspicion is Pete won't sign any of them and wait until only Kirby Wilson is left, but he's making a show of feigning interest in the mean time so as to mitigate any unrest from Seahawk fans.

Wouldn't surprise me as they've got history, but I have really been hoping for a QB coach rather than a RB coach. Pete needs to shore up his weaknesses rather than reinforce his strengths.

I agree completely, but he reined in Schotty, so I think the writing is on the wall that it will be a run first OC.
If I'm right, it will mean Wilson will be moving on after or before his contract ends. If he is moving on, I hope he's traded so we can at least get some value from him.

There's been a bunch of names thrown around (11 I think), not sure if the Hawks are passing on these guys or visa versa. Newest names I've heard are Ken Dorsey - him and Shane Waldron. Both (Rams/Bills) seem interesting.

I'm beginning to sense a tilting of the halo over Russell Wilson. I would say that it's 50/50 that he's here 2 years from now. If Aaron Rodgers and the Packers can split the sheets, a proposition that was unthinkable a week ago but seems probable today, it's certainly very possible that Russell could be out of here as well.

Seattle Seahawks want to interview Bills' QB coach Ken Dorsey for their OC job, per sources. Seahawks also have been speaking to Rams' pass-game coordinator Shane Waldron and Saints' QB coach Joe Lombardi about their OC job.

Coaches with little or no OC experience seem to be the order of the day.
Someone who Pete can easily push his conservative ideas onto is someone who he will choose.
