I regard Marty as I do Chuck Knox, an above average coach that won with multiple teams but could never win the big game.

RIP.

It is really almost incredible that the Seahawks would just dump Marty's kid as he laid dying! Unbelievable

Marty was good and Knox was great with the Rams

Sounds to me like your team is about to impload

Id regard those 2 a bit differently. Id say 2 of the very best coaches never to have been to the big game. Schottenheimer in particular had some of the most bizarre endings in conference championships, the fumble on the 1 with the Browns while preparing to close out Elway's broncos. The idiotic lack of poise committing penalties by the players at the end of the Pats game turing an almost certain Pats loss into another trip to the SB. Not too many guys get fired after going 14-2 but it happened to Marty. He had more loaded teams than Knox IMO especially offensively. I always thought Knox teams overachieved. Either way Marty was a great coach and RIP and condolences to his family.
