That could be seen coming a mile away..... Sure Thurmond and Browner, Bennett and Mcdonald etc will also receive a call...

A 4 year contract.
Good for him. He should help that run Defense in Jax. They need a lot more than him, though, but it's a good start.

I'm glad he landed on his feet and feel good that he was able to finish the job last year and finally reach the mountain top of the NFL.
Having said that, I wish there was a way to keep him here.

Yeah, it's what we all expected.

Good for Red, better for the Jags.

So....How does that work with the dead money against the cap for the Hawks? Now when Hawks cut doushmansada a few years ago he got picked up at league minimum and therefor most of his money went against the cap on Hawks side but Red got a nice 4 year deal here, does this deal not wipe out most of the dead money for the Hawks as well? Some of the signing or other bonuses are sometimes spread out over mulitple years and I don't think there is anything you can do about that but does this not make it better for Hawks cap space? Any body knows?

I believe it's a $3,000,000 Cap hit for Bryant. Rice is $2,400,000 and our dead money total is $6,307,367.
Available Cap Rollover is $2,845,004.
Current Cap Space is $14,275,553.

According to spotrac.

Dead money is dead. Hence why Housyourdaddy could accept a minimum contract, because he was being paid by Seattle. That said Seattle saved something like 6 million, as opposed to owing Houshmanzadeh like 15 million...

Happy for Red. I like Florida, though Jacksonville is one city I know nothing about.

I'm really happy the big fella got a ring before he went to another organization. Great guy and a wonderful player. Sadly, the Hawks have to play this salary cap game almost near flawless if they want to keep the core together.

Good for Red.
The writing was on the wall for him in Seattle that he'd likely be gone, but at least he goes to a coach that really wants him.
Thank you, Mr. Bryant, for all your good years and class that you brought to the Seahawks.

couldnt be happier for Red. Superbowl Champ... get's a good money! He can help a team that needs help.

Not only did the Jags get a good player, they signed a Defensive Team Captain from a Superbowl Squad. That should help that team out!

Wish Red Bryant many good years!

Plus I like the scenery in Florida better. Perhaps because of the sunnier skies and warm weather?

Not only to a coach that really wants him, but also a coach that knows how to use him.
I think I might check out a few Jags games next year just to see how Red's doing.

Yup, we all knew Red was a goner. That reads like a Louis L' Amour line.

Anyway, I think it's a smart move all around. Red plays football, Gus and the Jags get a great player, and the Seahawks save some bread. Plus it gives PC and JS another chance to flex their roster building muscles, which I'm beginning to think they enjoy doing. A lot.

Thanks for the great years, Red. And for the Lombardi. Go to Florida knowing that the Seattle Seahawks fans love you.

Wow - The Front Office never approached Big Red to even give him an opportunity to restructure his contract. His only contact with the FO after the season ended was his notice of release.

Honestly, I think they had to make a choice, and they made it. Can't fault them for choosing an everydown player over a part time guy, no matter how good he was against the run, and to be honest in the new version of this offense, Red wasn't the same factor he was two seasons or so ago. Not a knock on Red, but the change in philosophy, limited his importance, making Red a "luxury" not a necessity.
