I'm reading that Colts 3x Pro Bowl and once All Pro Center Ryan Kelly (29 years old) will either be traded or released. I should think we'd have strong interest in a guy like that.

We need a Center, and he seems to fit the size profile that Waldron seems to like, but would he come here and would his contract demands be within our salary structure? He’s in the last year of a 4 year $50M contract so will he want more?
If he’s released we probably should enquire about his interest and expectations.

It sounds like that the Colt's aren't happy with his play, so those Pro Bowl and All Pro accolades need to come with a footnote:
Kelly’s name being mentioned isn’t exactly a surprise given his recent regression and significant salary cap hit for the 2023 season.
While the 29 year old center was once considered one of the best centers in the NFL—as a past 3x NFL Pro Bowler and 1x 2nd-Team NFL All-Pro, his play has drastically fallen off over the past two seasons. He’s due a $12.375M cap hit in 2023, but the Colts could save $7.875M by cutting him—if a trade cannot ultimately be worked out with another NFL team.https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/co ... r-AA18wspd

Well that's interesting. I'll trust our pro scouting boys to determine whether that was a physical issue or whatever. Sounds like we could probably wait to see if he's released.

i don't see any indication PCJS will approach free agency any differently than they usually do. They will wait until the second or third wave as usual. There is a number of decent LB's this year, I expect them to sign at least one, especially since it's a poor year for LB's in the draft.

Speaking of free agent linebackers, there's a lot of rumors flying around that we might re-sign Bobby Wagner.
There's a ton of high-quality free agent linebackers out there, and as weak as our LB corps is, I would expect us to bring one of them in. Here's a ranking of them:

I think govandals is right. We will bottom feed then over pay for career backups or marginal players like we did with Irvin, Mayowa, Ogbuehi, and others.

Oh lord the humanity

 dumb old Pete.
How he ever won the second most games of the previous decade and 7th most since becoming coach in 2010 is an absolute mystery considering the worst in the league player acquisition and roster. Must be the psychologist in him.

Just look at some of the past years of the FA pickups.
According to overthecap:
Ogbuehi - was getting $895,000 from the Jags and signed in Seattle for $2.3M He was a backup.
Mayowa - $1.1M to $3M. They thought he could be a starting DE but we all know he could only be a situational pass rusher.
Irvin - about to retire but was paid a million more than his previous years salary $4M to 5M.
And this without much, if any other teams competing for their services, and it goes on with others, too. We just seem to overvalue our own players or players that we have previously had on the team.

Apparently we are about to release Shelby Harris. This will save $8.9M off the Cap.
It's a bit surprising in that he's a good fit for what this Defense is trying to do using the 3-4 scheme.
Maybe they hope to re-sign him at a better price...

The Broncos are stocking up their OL by picking up a starting G and Tackle in Ben Powers and Mike McGlinchy.
The 9ers picked up Hargreaves from the Eagles for big money.

Huge pickup. He played really well. That's the kind of move you can do when you aren't paying top dollar for a QB. The Niners are stacked.

I saw that. Do they seriously think he's an upgrade over Carr? At 3 years and $67M, does that put them out of the QB market or is there still a chance that they'll draft one?

Kind of wish I were a Niner fan. I know they don't have a QB, but their team is mega stacked, and Lynch is not afraid to make a FA splash.

They're pretty well set now, but Lynch sold the farm in order to move up just 9 spot to selected Trey Lance, a QB that even when healthy, hasn't played well. That might come back to haunt them.

So Hargrave to the Niners 4 years, 84 million. OTC says they have less than 4 million in cap space. Interesting to see how they will make that fit.

They may have a lot of restructuring room like moving guarantees to cash which lessens this years Cap hit but pushes it down the road.

The FA market has been a bust for a lot of teams, many who have jumped in early for big bucks and WAY overpaid. Did someone say Earl Thomas??

The Niners aren't letting Bosa go. And even if they did let him go, it would be extremely out of character for Pete/JS to attempt to sign a top flight free agent like him.
Bosa also said that his decision could hinge on the type of turf in use, that he prefers natural grass, and of course, we have Field Turf.

I dont want them even trying River, they would probably give up 3 drafts to get him. We are finally done paying off the Jamal Adams debacle.

There's a huge difference between Bosa and Adams. Bosa is a true, MVP caliber player at a high value position. Adams isn't/wasn't on anywhere near that level of play, plus he was/is a free safety.
I'm not going to say that I'd pay any price for him, but outside of a Mahomes or Burrow, if there's one player in this league that's worth it, it's Nick Bosa.

Seahawks signing Dre'Mont Jones! Huge huge signing for them. Classified as a game wrecker, only 26 years old.

Barton to the commanders . Bye now . Although he was fine in the 4-3 we should return to . Looked like the Raiders got Jimmy G awful cheap relatively speaking . Of course he’s been healthy maybe once an entire season as a starter . Jimmy = Carr doesn’t he ? Carr a bigger arm . Jimmy a bit more accurate .
This Rodgers diva saga blows my mind . If this doesn’t have Russell to the broncos written all over it I don’t know what does . 50 year old head case who lost at home to Detroit to miss the postseason .Oh well they are the jets .
Just heard Seattle has signed DT Dremont Jones . Is he bottom shelf ?

He’s played in the 3-4 with Denver so he should be a good addition as Harris might not be re-signed after testing FA.
It should also take some pressure off of drafting more than 1 DT and allow them to take Anderson if the draft falls that way.

OMG, we signed Jones and someone else signed Barton. What a day! I have been known to not be a fan of Barton on these boards

Seemed like a good guy and hard worker, but just lacked the talent needed to be a difference maker and was often a liability in the coverage part of the game.

Interesting about Jones -- CBS Sports says he played D-End the last year or 2, moving outside after his rookie year. I know Coach Pete likes those DLinemen that can move around in different situations. We'll see what they have planned.

Great signing by the Hawks interior pass rushers are hard to come by and the Hawks like to rotate a lot anyways. He may not be in on a lot of running downs but he seems like a really good pickup. Should be able to generate 6+ sacks and cones with a 14.5% pass rush win rate. I'll take it!!
