c_hawkbob's annual Three Deep Mock, 2023

Postby c_hawkbob » Wed Apr 05, 2023 12:40 pm

It's that time again:

Scoring:
- 1 point for each player that we draft
- 1 point for the correct round drafted
- 1/2 point for each player from your mock that we sign as UDFA’s
- 1/2 point for a player you have listed first in a round.
- This is a NO TRADES contest. As we are scoring on the number of names from your mock we actually draft everybody has to have the same set of picks to work with.

Well, the best part of this post is that it's an indication that your recovery from shoulder surgery isn't going too badly, unless you spent 12 hours of hunt-and-peck to compose your mock!

I've gotten pretty good at left handed hunt and peck! Thanks though, while it seems slow as hell to me my therapist says I'm on or ahead of schedule. At least another month before we start talking about going back to work though.

Bob!!! I hadn’t heard about your shoulder. I’m sorry and a speedy recovery to you. I had a non dominant shoulder surgery 30+ years ago. No fun at all.

I’ll participate this year, and I promise to spell names correctly this year. Thank you for the investment of time in this every year.

Thanks Sis! Tore my rotator cuff, labrum and bicep in my dominant arm in December. Still working on range of motion, start strengthening a week from tomorrow. Was doubting my capacity for running the 3-deep this year and "called in sick" here on the forum, lol. Turns out I adapted better than I expected.

Looking at your #1's in each round that would be an awesome draft. A bit light on O-line till late but after last years draft getting us our bookend tackles I'd be ecstatic getting those two monsters in the middle of our D!

Boy, I'd go for that in a heart beat. But I don't think it's going to happen.

Nice, but I can't accept it. I see now I didn't include it in this year's rules blurb but that has always been, and for the sake of fairness been a NO TRADES contest. As we are scoring on the number of names from your mock we actually draft everybody has to have the same set of picks to work with. Only the picks we have when I first put it out. My apologies for not including this rule. I'm old and prone to assuming "well everybody knows that".

OK - I understand... I'll put my JS trade hat away and re-do the draft... but we need that extra 1st to pick up all the players that we need!

Fun exercise . I don’t have the figment of knowledge of college players to venture this mock without wasting everyone’s time but I appreciate the topic . Educational

Weird. I just found players that might be selected in the first 4 or 5 rounds and then added some long shots at the end.
I never know what we are going to do so I look for players that would seem to fit what we’ve done in the past. It might turn out that I miss on all 30.
Maybe we see similar needs for our team.

Yup, right there with you. Pete and John have tendencies for sure. I was gonna say some smart ass comment like "great minds think alike" but then i figured we will go a combined 0 for 60 and we won't seem so smart.

I'd be good ObS first round. Kancey seems like a better bet than Carter on D-line and if one of the QBs is there for us, might as well take the shot given this is Pete and John's end game run. Might as well let Pete take his last shot at a SB with a high potential young guy QB.

Yah, right round and right slot!

Isn’t Tarlhawk the only player to get points? I didn’t see anyone select Witherspoon.

Thank you! I actually kept getting him in several mocks I did using PFF and PFN Mock simulators.

Really thought PCJS would "pull the string" on selecting Jalen Carter...but Witherspoon/Njigba both infuse a positive locker room persona. Go Hawks

I was 90% sure that we wouldn't. Too many red flags and he didn't fit our scheme. I was expecting that if we didn't take Levis, that we'd opt for Tyree Wilson, but as usual, I was wrong.

Must have been an earlier version. I see you have 3 edits... you need to give me a heads up when you edit. I put each person's mock on my master as soon as I see it.

Anybody else have any edits I may have missed?

I’m sorry, C-Bob. I really enjoy this competition/guessing game. I was working on mine when we lost (as in he passed away peacefully in our home) our sweet old dog. Odie always had Hawk colored collars and was a 12 himself. RIP, sweet boy!

As usual, thank you for taking the time to do this - especially with a bum wing! Love to you!
