Biggest Difference Maker this year: Dre'mont Jones

I'm making an early prediction. Dre'mont Jones will be the biggest difference maker on this team this year. He will have a huge impact on the defense and that will lead to overall improved team play. I think he will help get this defense back into the Top 15, possibly Top 10.

The DL is the biggest weakness on the team, so you have a good chance of seeing your prediction come true.

I'll be interested to see how Jarran Reed does at NT. He's not the size we are accustomed to see at that position, but Pete mentioned a few months ago that he didn't think NTs needed to be in the 320-350 lb range and somewhere around the 305 to 310 lb range could work. Fangio seems to have found success without the huge NT, but maybe it was the surrounding cast and how he used the player at the NT position.

The Fangio 3-4 looks a lot like a LEO 4-3 to me. I think that is part of the reason Pete was ok going to a Fangio 3-4 because he could understand it conceptually.

It's very different from what I'm accustomed to since when I think of the 3-4, I think of the Blitzburgh model. The Fangio 3-4 looks very different from the Blitzburgh 3-4 alignment.

Hmm, I never thought of that. I’ll have to look at it from that point of view but maybe you’re right.

Biggest difference could be Dre'mont indeed, but I'd say having Bobby back will also be huge, especially presnap. From what I've read, our D had a lot of issues with changing gap responsibilities when the offense would go in motion. Yes, we had Bobby before too, but our run D was never as bad as it was last year.
