Thursday is the 1st Pre Season Game!

It seems like an eternity since we last saw football and our first pre season game is on Thursday.
I'm looking to see how Lock does and how the DL looks. We will probably be in base formation on Defense and there has been some talk about the Nickel package as being used almost as much as our base defense - if not be the base defense.
On Offense I hope to see a bit of JSN and want to see Olu and Bradford play if only to get a gauge on how they look.
It will also be interesting to see how Witherspoon looks, too if he gets some playing time. It's too bad the RBs are a little dinged up, but I hope we see some passing to whoever is playing RB in this game.

I'll be watching the interior offensive line, in particular, the center position.

Defense, yes, I'd like to see how Witherspoon plays, but you can't get too good of an idea how good cornerbacks are playing by watching it on TV as they are too zoomed in on where the ball is and so much of cornerback play is 20-30 yards away from the ball.

Everyone is curious to see our rookies, myself included, but it will be great to see the development of our 2nd year players, esp Boye Mafe who had a really promising rookie season in the run game....reports say he has really worked on his pass rush speed and moves to get upfield quicker.

Witherspoon is out with a hamstring injury. Glad it happened in pre season and not during the year.

I believe it's a reaggravation of the one he got during minicamp.

Hopefully they're just being overly cautious. Hammys can take a long time to heal.

Carroll said it wasn't the same injury to the hamstring, but in a different location on the same leg so it makes one wonder if it's because of incomplete rehab or something else.
Hopefully it's not a chronic thing during his career.

looking forward to it too. Read a prediction from some ESPN analyst about a week ago. Gave the Hawks a 40-1 shot of making the Superbowl, BUT he did say it all comes down to how well we contain the 49'ers. Lets go Hawks!!

Delayed here. I’d rather watch the least desirable NFL pre season game than Fox’s women’s soccer………

Such a bummer. Outside the Seattle market, we are getting the obnoxious Vikings coverage due to technical difficulties. The woman with Mike B and Mike Rob is my friend’s former student and current friend. So I was really really looking forward to hearing OUR commentators. Especially Kate Scott. Boo

I agree, and they were terrible! Telling each other Vikings stories during the play more often than not, not giving down and yardage before the play or yards gained by whom after. The worst announcing team since a couple Bears doofuses I had to put up with a couple years ago ...

Overall I liked what I saw.
The DL, although not playing against their starting OL showed a lot more aggression and sense of urgency. The Pass rush was looking like it has some promise and there were a couple of dominating plays by Mafe. It makes me wonder if the new Pass Rush coach is having an impact. Coby Bryant at Safety didn't look out of place and it makes me wonder if the future of the Defense is going to be a Nickle or Dime base with more than 2 Safeties.

On the OL, Bradford just pancaked one of their linemen and seems like he could bring a bit of nastiness that the OL has needed for a long time. He might not be a starter at the beginning, but if last night was any indication
he will be a starter before the year is out.

That’s funny, Bob. I remember those dumb Bear announcers. I really wanted to watch the game and know down and distance and who made the play. This is the last ride for some of those youngsters and that’s what a home game gets them… exposure. Didn’t need to listen Justin Jefferson in his sunglasses.

The game was preseason and no injuries. That’s good. Now there’s game tape to take some next steps forward. Good showing …I’m not mad.

That's one thing I don't like about pre season games in that I have to have my tablet open to the roster page if a player stands out because they never tell us who is on the field or replacing someone who started ahead of them.
Maybe the announcers don't know either because there are so many names...

I was encouraged by what I saw from the Hawks last night. The most "juice" I've seen in several years, even taking into account that the regulars weren't on the field.

I watched the game on-line. The Seahawks.com. They had the King broadcast. Sis, your friend did very well.

It was good that they did not play many starters and they showed some depth. It was just nice to see some football.

I was on the road last Thursday and didn't see a whole lot of the game, mostly in the first half, and unfortunately, I can't record NFL Network or ESPN so I can't re-watch it. I was a little surprised that Geno didn't take at least a few snaps as he's working with a couple of new centers and new running backs and receivers, but there's still two preseason games left.

I can't make any intelligent comments about the quality of play as I was watching it from my barstool and without audio.

How was the trip? Where'd you go? You see anything cool? Eat anything good?

I enjoyed the hell out of it! But, it wasn't anything spectacular. I drove from my home in the Tri-Cities to Colorado Springs, spent a couple of days with a friend, then drove to Pocatello, ID and spent a day with another friend and his pregnant wife. All totaled, I drove a little over 2300 miles in 5 days in parts of 6 states.
