KW3, fragile?

Postby trents » Sun Nov 26, 2023 8:53 am

I have growing concern about KW3 and the amount of time he misses because of injuries. Like Penny, he's an enormously talented back but spends so much time on the shelf that you begin to wonder if you can count on him going forward.

I don't think he's at Penny's level because Penny would miss a large number of games. Walker only seems to miss a few each year.
It's why I'm glad they took Charbonnet when they did. He can fill in for Walker much better than the other RBs we have or have had the last few years.

Yeah, KW3 has a long ways to go to match Penny's injury history.

But it's not something that should be a huge surprise. The running back is the most injury prone position on the field. That's one of the reasons why I don't like spending multiple high draft picks on running backs as they're only going to get injured. And even though our RB's have for the most part been healthy this season, it hasn't helped our running game. In 11 games, we've had just one game where our running back cracked the 100 yard mark. We're the 25th ranked rushing team.

Doesn't feel as bad as Penny, but when you're used to Marshawn everyone else seems brittle. Marshawn was a brutal throwback to the old school. Now we have mortal RBs that get hurt on occasion. It's why you have platoon backs now. Very few can carry the load alone.

It’s why you draft 2 RBs high so there isn’t much drop off in productivity when one of them gets dinged.
