2025 NFL Schedule Release

Postby River Dog » Fri May 09, 2025 5:27 am

It's become a big event. One of the things that the NFL has done over the years has been to squeeze every dime possible out of us fans, and although none of this are paying to watch the event, it will attract a large audience. They've done the same thing with the draft and the scouting combine. Events that barely made the sports page are now a big deal. It was all done in an effort to keep the game relevant and in the news year-round.

This year, it's scheduled for Wednesday, May 14th at 5pm PDT. We've known our 2025 opponents since the end of the regular season. At home, we'll face the Cards, Rams, Niners, Texans, Colts, Saints, Bucs, and Vikings. Our 9 road games include the Rams, Niners, Cards, Falcons, Panthers, Jags, Steelers, Titans, and Commanders. What we don't know, and what is set to be revealed next Wednesday, is the specific dates and in some cases, the specific location.

One of the interesting things for me is whether or not we'll draw an international game. Two of our away opponents, the Jags play a game in London and Steelers will host the first ever game in Ireland, have already been chosen to host an international game. Personally, I think we have a pretty good chance of being selected to participate in one of those two games. Here's why:

Both teams are in opposite conferences, and as a rule, the league prefers interconference matchups so as not to create a controversy over the influence it might have on competitiveness. Teams are reluctant to give up big intradivisional rivalry games, like Steelers-Ravens. We didn't play an international game last season, and have participated in just 2 overseas games since the series began.

Along with a few friends, I like attending at least one road game per season. It's my way to see the country. But I do have a few criteria, one of which I don't want to go to a November or December game in a northern tier city in an outdoor stadium. I'm also interested in going to an international game if we draw one and can get game tickets, so the schedule release is a big deal for me.

As the friend you travel with to away games, I approve of this message :D

FYI for the other forum members in here, the Seahawks are 9-0 in the last 9 road games River Dog and I have attended together. The team really should hire us to go to every away game haha!

c_hawkbob even joined us in Indy in 2021.

2024-at LA Rams, at Atlanta
2023-at NY Giants
2022-at Detroit
2021-at Indianapolis
2019-at Pittsburgh
2018-vs Oakland, in London
2017-at Arizona
2016-at Arizona

We are hoping to hit the game in DC this season. Concurrent with Mark and traveling every year, I have been trying to complete my quest of seeing a game in every NFL stadium. I have Washington (scheduled 2025), Chicago, Minnesota (scheduled 2027), Cleveland (scheduled 2027), Las Vegas (scheduled 2026), Tampa Bay and San Francisco remaining. Saving SF for last as we play there every season and it's easy to knock out, plus their fans are atrocious.

Yep, and that includes a trip to London in 2018, something we hope to repeat this season.

The league is going to trickle out the schedule, allowing the networks to announce their own schedule a day or two, or in the case of CBS and Netflix, a few hours before the full release on Wednesday the 14th at 5pm PDT:

NBC – Monday, May 12 on TODAY Show
FOX – Monday, May 12
Prime Video – Monday, May 12
ESPN – Tuesday, May 13 on Good Morning America
CBS – Wednesday, May 14 on CBS Mornings
Netflix – Wednesday, May 14

The dates/opponents for the international series will be released on Tuesday, May 13th at 5am PDT. I'll be on my 2nd cup of coffee by then.

Might try to catch one or more of the Titans, Panthers or Falcons games this year.

One other tidbit about the 2025 regular season schedule. There will be a triple header on Christmas Day, which this year falls on a Thursday. Netflix will telecast the first two games while Amazon Prime, in alignment with their TNF games, will televise the evening game.

I'm excited to see who wins the QB contest. I'd love to see Jalen surprise us all.

There's been a leak of two of the international games.

The Chargers will be hosting the Chiefs in Brazil in Week 1.

This one seems very odd as it's not only a divisional home game that the Chargers are sacrificing, but it's also against the perennial powerhouse Chiefs and one of the biggest draws in the league. If I'm a Chargers fan....and their fan base is one of the wimpiest in the league...I'd be pissed as not only would I be denied to see one of the top teams in the league with a number of future HOF'ers, but turning what should be a HFA into a neutral site game damages their chances of making the playoffs.

Also, it looks like we won't be playing in London this year. The Jags will be hosting the Rams at Wembly Stadium in Week 7.

It looks like we're not going overseas this season, a bummer for Irish Greg and I as we were hoping to make a trip to the UK again.

NBC only released a couple of games yesterday. I was expecting the entire SNF lineup. Tomorrow night at 5pm, they'll release the balance of the schedule.

Several of us have already committed to the Commanders game in Landover, MD in Week 9. Gotta keep working on IG's bucket list.

30 years ago, if you would have told me how big of a deal this schedule release was, I would have told you to check into a mental ward. Love them or hate them, you'll have to admit that they are geniuses in figuring out how to squeeze the maximum amount out of us fans.
