PFF QB Rankings Ahead of 2025

Postby River Dog » Sun Jun 08, 2025 1:15 pm

Things are a little slow, so I thought I'd throw out some PFF position rankings for us to discuss. No promises, but I'll try to get to all of them. Here are the QB rankings ahead of the 2025 season:

1. Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs
2. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
3. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
4. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
5. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles
6. Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders
7. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
8. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
9. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
10. Geno Smith, Las Vegas Raiders
11. Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
12. Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
13. Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
14. C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans
15. Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals
16. Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars
17. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
18. Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins
19. Bo Nix, Denver Broncos
20. Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers
21. J.J. McCarthy, Minnesota Vikings
22. Drake Maye, New England Patriots
23. Michael Penix Jr., Atlanta Falcons
24. Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears
25. Cameron Ward, Tennessee Titans
26. Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks
27. Russell Wilson, New York Giants
28. Justin Fields, New York Jets
29. Joe Flacco, Cleveland Browns
30. Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts
31. Mason Rudolph, Pittsburgh Steelers
32. Tyler Shough, New Orleans Saints

It should be noted that this ranking was posted on May 20th, and since then, Aaron Rodgers has signed with the Steelers, and although I doubt that it would affect the top 10, it's unlikely that he'd be ranked 31st.

Darnold does not inspire me, but he's cheap and we know he's not the long-term option. We'll see if Jalen Milroe develops. Be nice if he did.

The good news about Darnold is that he had the best year of his career last season, so maybe he's turned a corner.

I expect us to use Milroe similar to how the Steelers used Justin Fields in the 2nd half of the season, basically for short yardage situations. He has a hugely high ceiling, could be another Lamar Jackson/Josh Allen. He has to improve his accuracy.

Well, PFF had Geno at 18 and Darnold at 31 ahead of '24 season....both outperformed that ranking by quite a bit. We'll see....
