Today is the deadline to get down to the 53 man roster, with the cut deadline being at 1:00pm, so figured I would start a thread for everyone to track it and update as cuts happen. Definitely some tough choices at certain positions, I have seen a few projections out there and nothing is consensus at any position for who they keep and how many they keep at each spot. Will be an interesting day.

• OT Luke Felix-Fualalo (Report: ESPN’s Brady Henderson)
• LB Alphonzo Tuputala (Report: KPRC 2 Houston’s Aaron Wilson)

Bit of a surprise, ILB Patrick O'Connell is being waived.
That leave Jones IV, Knight, and Thomas as locks to make it but who will be the 4th at that spot to play as the backup? The other 3 in camp are Josh Ross, Alphonzo Tuputala, and D'Eryk Jackson. I wonder if any of those 3 beat out O' Connell or if they got someone in mind to trade for or pick up off waivers.
Edit: Apparently Jamie Sherriff has played a bit of ILB in camp as well as OLB, so maybe he is being considered for a role at ILB?

I guess we should take these preseason games with a grain of salt. I thought O'Connell looked damn good, thought he might at least make it as a special teamer.

Here is the initial 53 man roster and also shows all the cuts.
Of note, Christian Haynes lands on IR (minimum 4 weeks, eligible to return for week #5). And 2 UDFA's made the initial roster, OLB's Connor O'Toole and Jared Ivey.

Well, the way Tory Horton stepped up in camp and preseason all but made the decision easier. Glad to see Dareke Young and Cody White make the squad, they have been in development now for a few seasons and it's good to seem them make the 53 as well.

was also hoping to see Brandon Pili make the cut, but maybe he can land on the PS and we can keep developing him. Interesting to see Shaq Griffin be back on, not sure what he is role will be as usually a depth DB is a special teamer, and usually veteran backups aren't reserved for special teams.

I really liked what I saw of RB Jacardia Wright. I hope they can get him on the Practice Squad.

Updates from the initial 53 man roster and 17 man practice squad:
53 man Roster:
In:
CB Derion Kendrick (ex Rams)
ILB Chazz Surratt (ex 49ers)
Out:
CB Shaq Griffin (signed to Practice Squad)
S D'Anthony Bell (happed today so he may end up on PS tomorrow)
Practice Squad:
In:
CB Shaq Griffin
WR/STR Courtney Jackson (ex Broncos)
ILB Chris "Pooh" Paul Jr. (ex Rams)
Out:
DT Anthony Campbell
RB Anthony Tyus III
OLB Jalan Gaines
Surratt is no surprise as they only kept 3 ILB's on the initial roster, so ya knew they were looking to add to that spot. O' Connell just didn't show enough in pre season.
Kendrick is interesting, they obviously liked his upside to cut Griffin who seemed serviceable in a backup role and for his leadership.
