Yea, Bobby is a very quiet, reserved guy. But his modesty doesn't compromise his confidence. Although he seemed at a loss for words when other subjects were discussed, he didn't hesitate a second when they asked him if the Hawks were going to get better this year.

If this is the interview on First Take I don't think it was all that far off from Richard Sherman to be honest. He said the Broncos were scared. He said that Jimmy Graham deserved to get paid with his production but he didn't respect him after the game where they shut him down or after trying to come warm up on the Seahawks side of the field. And that he (and others) probably don't want to try renegotiating his contract right after playing the Seahawks. He also was asked who the best TE was and Vernon Davis was hinted at and he rebuffed the hint saying he played scared against the Hawks too. Fair bit of bulletin board material considering the Hawks play both the Niners and Broncos this season. He clearly has a more reserved nature but this whole team has a lot of swagger right about now.

If this is a different interview never mind.

Brincos played scared but I don't think that was from fear of getting hit. More frm fear of getting beat at the LOS. The type of fear you get when you know your opponent is better. Demarious Thomas put up big numbers despite playing with a separated shoulder. He sure didn't appear to be physically intimidated. Denver also seemed a bit intimidated by the moment, as if it was too big for them. Maybe they'll be different this yr.

I believe it happened after. Like I just posted.

Meh if you're impressed by the day Demaryius Thomas had all you care about is fantasy football. He was targeted 18 times maded 13 catches and averaged less than 10 yards per catch. That's not efficient. He caught like 7-8 balls on screens ... and his biggest play he fumbled. I guess you can argue the semantics of what constitutes "afraid" but he certainly wasn't out there challenging the secondary physically. One play that sticks out in my mind is Thomas catching the ball on a screen on a short third down play. And instead of just going forward twith the ball which would have gotten an immediate first down he chose to avoid the contact, take two steps back and try to go around the edge instead. Even though he got the first down back by slipping a tackle It was a monumentally bad decision that showed he wasn't thinking about the situation. It was either dumb or fear, you're choice.

But then this is Future we're talking about so we know he likes to take numbers based on volume and pretend they mean everything.

Exactly what I thought as well.
Sherman gets a lot of attention for his talking, but if you actually LISTEN to what is being said, virtually the whole team is saying the same things.
Listen to any interview with Earl, and you will hear the same things that Sherman says and gets ripped for saying. Wagner always says more or less, the exact same things Sherman says, this interview was no exception. Listen to the actual words being spoken and it will hit you, that there is a HUGE double standard on how we judge these guys.
With guys like Sherman who have a reputation of being outspoken, everything they say just reinforces what we already believe to be the case; whereas with guys like Wagner, who are more reserved, but who say the same things that Sherman says, no one seems to notice or make mention of it.

I'm glad you brought this up Kalibane, it's something that has bothered me for a long time now, something I keep intending to mention, but don't, mostly due to not wanting to sound like the guy with the tin foil hat.

EDIT: Also, how is there still a show on ESPN called first take starring those two complete morons? Who is still watching that show???
Those two are constantly wrong about pretty much everything they say...so why does anyone bother listening?

OK, so the fact that he had a big day after getting popped and separating his shoulder actually DOES prove that he was "scared". Great point!

I did not know a WR's job was to put his head down and plow through defenders like a fullback to prove how much of a man he is. Sounds like you'd have loved Mike Singeltary as a coach. Dude, even Emmit Smith was avoiding cintact as much as possible in the infamous game V the Giants where he continued to play through a separated shoulder. That's an example of common sense, not fear.

The point that Wagner was making is that everyone is scared of the big bad Seahawks. You're just making dumb excuses for a dumb statement. In fact, every team knows that the way to beat that D (if any) is to line up and play smash mouth physical with them in the run game, which contradicts the assertion that teams or players are "scared" of them. New Orleans did it with great success, Carolina did. The problem is that they are so good in the secondary and so fast at LB that they can load up the box to stop the run and force you to throw. They do a great job jamming at the LOS and their quickness upfront means they get to the QB quick and thus rarely back away from the LOS.

Your dude made none of those points. He was asserting mochismo and you know it as well as I. It's just s*** talk, nothing less nothing more. The Hawks were the better team and they were a perfect matchup for the way Denver likes to play. Thet were completly overwhelmed, but I seriously doubt grown men that have been doing this since childhood were "scared".

I do hope your group keeps mouthing off though, because it is just illustrating how they are still reliving that moment. As Michael Robinson recently stated, there are few vwts left in that locker room, young guys got paid and they better keep their egos in check if they are going to have continued success.

Yeah you're right guys like Ronnie Lott, Kenny Easley, Steve Atwater and Rodney Harrison never caused WRs to put their head on a swivel, avoid going over the middle or shy away from contact. They invented the phrase "alligator arms" for a completely random reason because grown men don't play scared.

A huge amount of Thomas' production during the regular season came on screen passes and underneath routes against soft coverage. Rarely did Thomas produce anything when defensive backs jammed him at the line of scrimmage and played aggressive man coverage through his route.

Again, I wonder if Future ever PLAYED the sport. Yes the ONLY way to beat the Seahawks D is to "out Physical" them, and that isn't a secret, so I wonder, WHY Denver didn't at any point attempt it? Fortunately for Seahawks fans, there simply isn't many teams that can do that. Denver certainly wasn't one, since they in general were more worried about the hits that were coming ( ie scared) then they were about getting upfield, catching the ball, or winning the game.

A HUGE part of successful defensive play, is doing just that, intimidating the offense into making mistakes, unforced errors that Pro's shouldn't make. It is taught to defenders at the lowest levels, all the way up, why that is difficult to grasp is strange to me.
