Your favorite Music

Being a hard rock and heavy metal guy, I'm not close minded like a lot of guys in my field.

I have Enya, Tears for Fears, Hall & Oates and several others in my I-Tunes. I like Josh Groban a lot too, what a voice.

What do Y'all have as yours?

Dream Theater, Yes, Led Zepplin, the Stones, all of the Grunge bands of course, but also Maynard Ferguson, Neil Diamond, Tommy James and the Shondells and the Monkeys ...

Far from guilty, these guys keep the metal torch burning. I was lucky enough to see them on the tour with Portnoy on drums. It was pretty epic.

I never understood "guilty pleasures" when it comes to music. I imagine the concept has to do with some people taking their music so seriously that they judge it using it some moral dimension I don't understand. I listen to every type of music. I only care if it provides me some mental stimulation that provokes interest, inspiration, or emotion. I'll click the links and see if there is something I can enjoy. Always fun to find some new music to enjoy.

Maybe I should change the thread title and I WILL.

Hardly anyone shares anything here. I try but people seem to just want to say how everything I think is wrong.

I haven't been around lately but I'll share Largent...

I am a throwback and it drives my brother nuts. I like both types of music, Country and Western. :D

Actually, I do like C&W from the 60's, 70's and 80's. I like selective songs from the 90's on.

My favorite though is classic Rock. Especially the late 60's to early 80's. Can never go wrong with that. And yes, I'll even listen to the Bee Gees, Donna Summer, etc (disco) music once in a while.

Never really got into the Rapp or Gruncge, Heavy metal types of music.

I'm a hard rock drummer since age 8, I'm 65 now and still in a metal band playing drums and singing. (I was told I outperform all of my younger peers)....Still love Judas Priest and I'm friends with Scottt Travis their awesome drummer, going to see them in April in Houston. Pretty bummed that their longtime guitarist Glenn Tipton was diagnosed with Parkinsons almost 10 years ago but will not tour with them this year, and this comes with the release of Firepower their new album in a couple days.

Man, getting old sucks. Already lost Hendrix, David Bowie and Tom Petty and many more. I'm 65 now and lift weights 4 times a week and have a great diet but man, you just never know. Life is precious, and so is music and those who make it to brighten our lives.

So will I, since we could use a variety, even though I still love the classics.

From my younger days abroad (don't let me lose you with this one if it's not your speed):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zf2wbRWb9xI

And because I always wish I'd have either been a part of or seen a flash mob:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wh3i3vWgPyk

And because I grew to love mashups (and I have a serious crush on Tigra and Bunny):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaeNelsAOGo

And a dorky song that I can't get out my head if I hear it playing:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xat1GVnl8-k

And a song that made me remember why I always loved "One Oh Seven Point Seven... The... End." (Seattleites will know what I'm talking about):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5fBdpreJiU

And one more recently whose timing kept me subscribed to satellite radio:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deYCFCAK-RE

And for those who didn't know Christopher Walken was classically trained (and is cool even outside the confines of SNL):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCDIYvFmgW8

And for a pre-game on your walkman:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o712mgqVZXI

And for an alternate none of your friends liked but was still on your walkman:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvvGgqV6SGo

And if you need a cool disco-ish song from the 70s nobody has heard of:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LSwsCNk8g0

And for an early video shot at this dude's REAL WEDDING:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0l3QWUXVho

And because we need a decent 80s song nobody listened to:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-b-6ksMdkrU

And for the black dude showing everyone how dancing like a white dude can be cool (word is he was a stage-hand and they just shot this in one take and decided to make it their video):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_426RiwST8

And anothe quintessentially 80s song you've never heard that you'll either love or hate:

I'm 65 and I still play the drums and sing in a Metal cover band here in Houston. My roots are in hard rock but I've got so many influences that it would take 5 pages of posts to list them all and that includes stuff like Michael Jackson, Boz Scaggs Bruce Hornsby etc. Hell Ive even went to a Josh Groban concert. Dude is an incredible singer and musician, plays over 10 instruments.

And Buurton, your list explains a lot.

Some artists that I don't get why they are popular are Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews, Coldplay (who ripped off a Joe Satriani riff for a song "Vida la Viva") or whatever the name of the pile of crap it is. They were sued and settled out of court. Many more....
