Biden's Gaffe

Damn Joe Biden is going to f-up this election yet. All he has to do is lay low and let Trump self disintegrate and he can win in November, but if he keeps sticking his foot in his mouth he's going to end up assuring us with 4 more years of The Buffoon:

He got baited into an argument, reacted emotionally, and blurted out what a lot of people, including blacks, feel about Donald Trump and those that support him. To his credit, he quickly realized his mistake, apologized, and is trying to move on, but you can bet that the Trump campaign won't forget about it. The gaffe won't change anyone's vote, but they're not going to inspire blacks to turn out in the numbers he's going need in order to win key swing states like PA and MI. Part of his response was to commit himself to putting a black woman on SCOTUS, a pretty stupid commitment as it severely restricts his choices.

But this problem with Biden's gaffes isn't going away. Earlier he made a stupidly awkward remark comparing the intelligence of poor black kids to white kids. These can't be attributed to his advancing age, it's a weakness of his that he's had his entire career. He made a racially insensitive remark as a POTUS candidate back in 2006 when he said that you can't go into a Seven Eleven or Dunkin Donuts without a Middle Eastern accent.

The Trump people wisely pulled the plug on the daily coronavirus pressers as they were going very badly for Trump. His current job approval/disapproval remains relatively the same, at 43.9 positive and 53.9 negative. Biden has been slipping some. His lead in Minnesota, a state Hillary won by less than 50k votes in 2016, is down to 5%. He has 4-7% leads in PA, MI, and AZ. FL is now rated a toss up, as are WI and NC, all within the margin of error. Texas is officially a toss up as Trump's lead is down to 2.7%. Romney won Texas by 15% and Trump himself won it by 9%, so that's quite a change from the recent past.

Biden didn't even want to run. He got thrust into it out of desperation. And now he's doing what he does: saying stupid crap at bad times. We'll see if Democrats can stomach saying stupid crap at bad times as well as the Republican voters do when they listen to Trump's stupid talk and continue to vote for him. What Biden said compared to what Trump says is pretty minor.

Yes, it's minor compared to Trump. Any self respecting 5th grade teacher would flunk a student like Trump if they said that Paris was in Germany or that Colorado shares a border with Mexico. Same goes with his scandals. Trump has dozens of rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment charges that are outstanding, not to mention his hush money to pornstars. But Biden has one charge from 27 years ago levied against him and everyone sits up and takes notice.

But I'm afraid that a lot of voters, in particular the moderates that will determine the election, will hold Biden to a higher standard. Trump's reputation is relatively calloused over. People will expect Biden to be a better choice and will be disappointed if he turns out to be even a tenth as bad as what Trump has been. To a lot of people, Biden is going to have to be more than the lesser of two evils if they are to turn out in the numbers it's going to take to oust him. That was the problem with Hillary. People saw the choice between Hillary or Trump as being like a choice between the frying pan or the fire.

Biden can't afford too many more of these gaffes, no matter how innocent or understandable they might be.

Biden's accuser has been somewhat discredited of late - whether by left wing direction or by evidence,
but in this world with Trump making more strange and outlandish statements, it's fading away.

Glad to see you dipping your toes in here again!

Yes, it looks like Tara Reade is going the way of Michael Avenatti, Stormy Daniel's lawyer that was such a thorn in Trump's side that ended up having to fight his own legal battles.

Apparently the defense attorneys of people Reade helped put in prison by serving as a prosecution 'expert' witness on domestic violence are attempting to overturn convictions by arguing that she lied under oath regarding her credentials, and just recently, the high profile attorney that was going to defend her against those charges has dropped her as a client.

If that all holds up, the charges against Biden will be as toothless as a 70 year old Hillbilly.
