The talk of the past couple of days has been the reports coming out of The Atlantic regarding Trump's supposed referencing of military veterans as being "suckers and losers." There hasn't been any confirmation that the President used those terms as the reports are from "unnamed sources". Nevertheless, it's been amplified in the news for the past several days. Joe Biden is acting as if it's true, and has denounced Trump as being disrespectful.
President Trump canceled a planned 2018 trip to a cemetery for American war dead in France because of the weather and not because of disdain for the slain soldiers who are buried there or concern about how the weather would affect his hair, two sources told Fox News, despite a report from The Atlantic making that claim.
Two sources who were on the trip in question with Trump refuted the main thesis of The Atlantic's reporting -- that Trump canceled a trip to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, which is at the site of Belleau Wood, an important World War I battle, because he believed the dead soldiers to be "losers."
According to the former official, Trump also had said of the Vietnam War: “It was a stupid war. Anyone who went was a sucker.” But sources said Trump did not use that term to refer to war dead interred at Aisne-Marne.

John Bolton, who has written a book highly critical of his former boss, and former press secretary Sarah Sanders, who were with the president on this trip, have strongly rejected the claims made by The Atlantic. But some of the details have been confirmed by other sources interviewed by pro Trump Fox News, including the decision to cancel the visit being due to Trump being in a bad mood and not wanting to go vs. the weather conditions that the White House claims to have been the reason.
There's a number of veterans and military personnel that are part of Trump's base, so if this story hangs around or is supplemented by other disparaging comments that Trump may have made about veterans, it could erode some of his support in the upcoming election.
Some good ole mudslinging like you said there'd be, right ASF?
