Following the assassination of Haiti's democratically elected President Jovenel Moïse, the country has been thrown in turmoil, causing the Haitian government to call for US military assistance at the exact same time as President Biden is winding up our involvement in Afghanistan. It seems that our military leaders are against such a potential us of US troops and the Biden administration is understandably reluctant to comply with the request.

The risk we incur with not getting involved is that Haiti could be overrun by gangs and thugs and the country plunged into economic crisis, causing a mass exodus of Haitians fleeing the island nation to Florida, roughly 700 miles away, creating another immigration crisis on top of the one that already exists at the southern border. Turning away overfilled boats at sea is not the image any politician wants splattered all over the news, nor does Biden want to provide fodder for his opponents on the right by admitting them in large numbers. It's a no win situation.

I don't see how Biden can avoid not getting militarily involved at least to some small degree. This situation is not going to straighten itself out.

The assassination took a strange turn with the roadblocks and shootout and Taiwan Embassy being used for shelter.
Haiti wasn't a bastion of civility or stability before the assassination so this will make it worse. Biden has to try to
do as little as possible to help get the situation stabilized but still be effective. It seems it will be a tight rope walk
for him to do it. Maybe other countries can contribute - mainly those with french speaking backgrounds that won't
seem like an occupying force in that they can communicate with the people at all levels of interaction. A good start
was to involve the FBI for any information they have on the Americans involved in this. Background information and
other information might be key to finding out why and who organized this with hard evidence.

It doesn't sound too out of control yet.

Pretty weird case. A Haitian doctor hired a Columbian hit team escorted by Americans of Haitian descent as interpreters is straight out of the movies type of crazy. I guess they weren't paid that much to do the job either. At least they didn't kill his children.

They've got a problem brewing in Cuba, too, with the violent demonstrations against the dictatorship in that country that has prompted Cuban-Americans in South Florida to take to the streets demanding that the US take action against the regime. Welcome to the White House, Mr. Biden.
