chawkbob, you're in the power business. You hear or see much gallium nitride power chip deployment?

This substance seems to be a way to make higher density, easier to cool power chips for EVs and now data centers. Much of it seems to be produced in China.

Some of our replacement components, such as our switchgear and turbine control components are GaN based instead of silicon, but I recon there will be a lot more in new plant construction or large scale retrofits going forward than I will see. Especially since I'm at 42 days and a wake up on my retirement countdown :)

You get to finally lay down the work hat and enjoy the ride into retirement. That's gotta be nice.

Thanks for the info. You know what company they come from? I've been looking at Eaton since they seem to sell a lot of power components.

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement!

I counted down the days to the rocking chair, too, or rather one of my co-workers would. Each morning at our shift change meeting, he'd go to the grease board and deduct one day off the total.

I hope you got your SS and Medicare pathway figured out. It's truly a maze.

Thanks man, I'm navigating that maze now. HR at work advised an appointment at the Senior Citizens Center for Medicare advise. Hit me like a ton of bricks... it's weird being the same age as old people.

Yeah, I know the feeling. Information overload.

If you're interested, I'd be more than happy to share my thoughts on the subject via a PM. It may or may not apply to your situation.
