What ya listening to?

Postby c_hawkbob » Thu May 22, 2014 5:22 am

Thought I'd start a thread strictly for fun.

Went to an Adrenaline Mob concert a couple weeks ago and I've tried to find one but there doesn't seem to be any decent quality live videos of them out so y'all will have to just listen to get the feel. These guys rock as hard anyone I've ever seen and the sound live is 100% this:

Right now, Boards of Canada - a reclusive duo from Scotland. When I'm working (writing code) I need something mellow, repetitive and hypnotic. They mostly use analog gear and lay their tracks down on tape. Aaaah, you can feel the warmth. It's not for everybody though.

I like it. Seems perfect for background music to work to.

Winery Dogs! There's some great new music coming out now, pendulum swinging back to just good old Rock n Roll, I love these guys :)

Nice stuff, kinda reminds me of old school Soundgarden before they got big. Tight arse bass line.

Yeah that bassist is Billy Sheehan. The Winery Dogs got on my radar because I'm a big Mike Portnoy (old drummer from Dream Theater) fan and I wound up finding a new favorite bassist. I'd seen Sheehan before with Steve Vai, David Lee Roth and Mr. Big but had no idea he could play like that!

My best friend in the world and his lady took my wife and I to the White River Amphitheater to see Def Leppard and Kiss last Sunday. He got the motel rooms and tickets and also rented us a stretch limo which was a total surprise. What a ball. Those old fossils sounded pretty great to an old fossil like me. Still jacked up about that. As for my musical passion it runs the gamut from country and classic rock to modern rock and even some rap and hip hop. My kid turned me onto Avenged Sevenfold and Seether among other contemporary rock bands.

Not sure if you have heard, but Charlie Haden passed away two weeks ago. Yet another great loss, pour one out if you haven't already. I've had the chance to see him live a few times, the guy was amazing to watch.

It's all about Gregory Porter - give this video a second and listen to that voice. He won a Grammy last year:
