Postby c_hawkbob » Sat Aug 12, 2017 12:03 pm

Pick'em:
HAWKSHACK PIC'M LEAGUE
group ID# 12059

It doesn't seem to want to let me set up a survival league yet ... stay tuned.

The survival league doesn't give me a group # but gives me a link: https://football.fantasysports.yahoo.co ... eahawkswin

Bear with me here, I seem to have gone stupid this year, I'll get it figured out eventually.

Fantastic! Thanks a bunch!

Is this a straight pick'um or are we doing this confidence points thing?

It looks like the survival league is set up. There's 4 of us currently signed up, and I'm the only one to have made my Week 1 pick.

I can't find the pick'um league. A link would be appreciated.

Not sure why I got the link to the survival league but not one to the pick'em but to get in the pick'em:

https://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/pickem/12059

Group ID# is 12059
Password is Seahawkswin

We're doing just like last year; it's a confidence points setup but we will track both points and straight up, participate in the points if you wish but it doesn't matter if you don't, we'll still track your straight up standing, so don't just stop making picks if you screw up the confidence points one week.

Thanks for doing this, CBob.

But at present time, it's just you and me in the league. We'll have to keep this thread bumped to the top in order to remind others to join.

Bob - Thank You for again running the pools. Your time and effort is always appreciated!

I'll sign up soon - I think last yr we had several that signed up just prior to opening weekend (I think I may have missed opening night Thursday last yr in pick em).

So far, it's just three of us...Cbob, Sista, and Yours Truly. Still a lot of time but it would be nice to get at least 6 or 8 of us.

It gave me an error message too, but I had the league ID & password and just manually navigated to sign up. Let me know if you need help and I can walk you through it, OBS. If you just google Yahoo football pick-em league (which should take you here https://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/pickem ) the home screen asks if you want to create a group or join a group. Select join a group, then enter the ID & password when prompted.

It told me the same thing, but like Sis, I went ahead and signed up and it recognized me. Unlike Sis, I'm not smart enough to remember the steps, I sort of stumbled onto it. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in awhile.

lol, Finally figured out pick 'em league sign up. That was a pain in the azz lol. My mistake was not creating a user name for the league, so it prevented me from seeing our group page. Anyway, I'm in.

Looks like only 5 of us in the Pick'em this year, and after a rough week Dog leads both the straight up and confidence points races, Congrats man!

No one is yet eliminated in the survival pool.

Thanks, but one week, especially after all those upsets, isn't anything to be popping buttons over. I had one bone head mistake, though, as I forgot to go back and change my pick in the Chargers-Colts contest after I heard that Indy was SOL (chit out of Luck).

The fantasy league didn't get off the ground due to ack of interest. :-(

& thank you to the Pats for eliminating my concern about not picking the Th. night game. I'd have been wrong with the rest of you. I'm comin' for ya, Riv. ;-)

Here's what I am talking about: https://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/544719

I'd like to play, but if it is not going to work, then I can find another group to play with, but this limbo is frustrating. Same thing is happening in another league, so while I want to play, I signed up for a 3d league, and it is working, so never mind.

I'm not going to participate in the FF. I only agreed to because I wanted to help get it off the ground if enough were interested, but it seems like things kinda petered out. Besides, I've already got one FF team through my workplace, and I have a difficult time multi tasking when it comes to FF.

But I'll sick it out in the Pick'um and Survival leagues.

Second week: Riv leads in both the confidence points (200 points, up 17 on ObS) and straight up (22-9, up three over Sis and myself)

No strikes in the survival league yet.

I forgot to make my picks until after the Thursday game and figured it would count as a loss, but apparently my assumption was incorrect. It was a break for me as I would have picked the Bengals, who ended up losing.

After week 3 Rive widens his leads to 5 games straight up and 26 points in the confidence points race.

And we have our first strike in the survival pool; Zorn now has one strike.

I missed not reading Cbob's weekly update and since I have a funny feeling that my current streak of good luck is going to eventually run out, I'd figure I'd better get as much horn tooting in while it lasts. :D

River Dog is up 6 games in the W/L column with Cbob, ObS, and Sis tied for 2nd, also up 30 in confidence points over 2nd place Cbob.

Cbob, Zorny, and Gridhawk(?) each have a strike in the survivor league. Everyone else is clean.

After week 5 Riv widens his leads to 7 games straight up over ObS, and 44 points in the confidence points race!

And we have our first eliminations in the survival pool; myself (damn Steelers, WTF was I thinking!) and Gridhawk. Meanwhile Zorn and Sis have one strike each

The Steelers caught a lot of us off guard. Worthlessburger tossed 5 picks and now there's rumors that he's about to hang it up. I had them pegged as a SB contender.

They might have been but unfortunate controversy is probably causing a huge distraction to that team right now.

Worthlessburger was pretty dejected in his post game interview when he wondered out loud whether or not he still had "it", and when he made that remark, the press took it and ran with it, drawing up his retirement plans for him.

After the bye week Riv still leads but the margins have narrowed: the straight up is now 6 games over ObS and the confidence points is now 38 over me.

As for the Survival lead, last year was an amazing run by Zorn, but this year looks more the norm: ObS, Riv and Zorn (get your pick in man) are still alive with 1 strike while Sis failed to make a pick and joined gridhawk and myself in being eliminated.
