That's the ugliest 14-14 start... except for Earl, of course. WE better get that D going. That also was the weirdest challenge I've ever seen. Great call by Pete and the staff.

Houston slicing through us like a hot knife through warm butter.

We're going to get pasted if the defense doesn't figure out how to stop this.

What a game. Can this rook come into our house and lead a game winning drive against our top-ranked defense. Who has more pride, will, and ability: our 11 on defense or their 11 on offense.

They need to take their time here score and not give the ball back with anymore than a few seconds on the clock. Make them burn the timeouts .. just a suggestion

Well, it seems Watson will be the first rookie QB to win in Seattle in years. He's a stud. I can't deny it. We'll see how long he lasts.

We won't see another Super Bowl while Tom Cable runs this O-line. At least that is my opinion.

Russell was not going to be outplayed by a rookie today. Damn... 400+++ yards lots of TD's and a terrible INT. 1 yard rushing?

Maybe for you, but I don't forget after one game. I want Super Bowls, not single victories against up and coming teams at home we should beat much easier. Our defense was a mixed bag today and our run game straight up stunk. Luckily we have number three and sometimes he can take a game over without much help. That's why he's the last man standing of the great QB class of 2012.

Yeah, make sure you don't forget PLAYOFFS for 5 years in a row including the superbowl. Spoiled unappreciative brats that know as much about coaching as they do about interacting with people in a proper manner.

And this is how a person interacts in a proper manner? By calling someone else a brat? That's about as lucid as you usually are. Your hypocrisy is obvious and pathetic.

When the team does well, you're talking smack to the people you disagreed with. When the team loses, quiet as a mouse admitting none of the problems.

I'll take the win but, yea, we should've bee able to put Houston away a lil sooner than we did.

Mistakes and Clutch plays on both sides of the ball.
I neither thought we'd score 40+ nor surrender 30+ this afternoon.

Watson was already looking like the real deal, and he proved it again today.
The Kid has "it", and the sky (and health) is the limit.

But what really got me today was this...the Texans had Every reason to come in unfocused, and they were the complete opposite. They drew 1st blood and played a really good game.
I'm also encouraged that we came out and ended up winning after a bye week. We've been better there lately, but this turned out to be a much tougher than anticipated originally last spring.

We're right in the thick of it. The Falcons get back on track, the Saints stay hot, albeit it with an underwhelming win over the Bears. Watch out for Chicago next year, though. They are scrappy again and Tribisky has enough to be a good QB in future.

It looked like ET pulled a hammy on that last long TD they scored on us. Did anyone hear if that was why he pulled up and grabbed his right hamstring?

Irish Greg and I got to attend this game in person, and we picked a great one. Just a couple of observations/questions:

This is the first game in quite awhile where Russell put our team on his back and carried a fledgling defense to a victory. He did overthrow a couple of passes, but the only real mistake he made throwing the ball was that pick he threw in the 4th quarter.

WTF is going on with the running game? Why does Eddie Lacy have a spot on this roster? He's late hitting the hole and has no lateral movement. He's not even a good push the pile short yardage runner. Dunno what's going on with Rawls, either. Cable needs to change something up on the OL, although to their credit, for the most part they did a great job of protecting Russell.

From our vantage high up in the 300 level yet off about the 30 yard line, it appeared that Russell was wide open for big gains on the read option, but he never kept it. Our staff had to have seen it. Russell probably could have scored himself on that little dinky pass that Rawls dropped in the end zone.

Paul Richardson has earned a spot in the starting lineup. He was fantastic. Thomas Rawls sucks.

Irish Greg called the final score about midway thru the 1st quarter by telling me "this game has a 41-38 feel to it". I wish he were going to Vegas with me next weekend.

It was remarkable to watch that running game (I was there, too). The RBs had no ability to hit any hole that might have developed, and I've never seen an o-line demonstrate such a pronounced inability to move defenders, and that was when they didn't virtually *whiff* (think when the defender- Clowney?- couldn't decide whether to take the handoff or tackle the runner).

I can't decide if the competence shown protecting Wilson makes that more or less frustrating.

5-2 IS A DISASTER!

Yea, everybody keeps telling me how much better talent we have on the OL this season vs. the past couple of years, but I sure as hell don't see it. It sure seemed that a lot of first contact was coming from behind the LOS, and you can't blame Lacy, Rawls, or who ever for those losses.

I think that RW is getting much more time to make throws and is being a lot better protected in passing game. The run game (Cable's area) sucks.

RBs are too deep to hit the hole before it closes
Oline is confused on whether to block or just get in people's way.

This creates a mismatch for Rawls who just hits the hole assigned and not the hole that is created wherever it may be. Lacy wants to look for a hole be I question how good his vision is for finding that hole in the limited time available.

Our guys are big and strong. Cable needs to have them fire out and just recreate the LOS 2-3 yards down field. This is a foreign thought for him and it isn't working.

"IF" RW can perform week in and week out like he did this last weekend, then we should change to a pass first offense. I don't think Cable or Carroll would like that though.

Other teams improved their OL in the off season, but ours seems to be stagnant.
The Rams got better by adding Sullivan at C and Whitworth at T and changing coaches.
The Vikings got better (when they are healthy) by replacing all 5 players on the OL.
The Lions got better by adding Reiff and Wagner (I think that's his name - from the Steelers). They're banged up, too.

So it can be done and we've seen this play out the same for the last 3 years now, and maybe it's time to look elsewhere for coaches on the OL and let the OC run the entire show on Offense.

Some more post game comments:

One aspect of yesterday's game that's getting a lot of attention is the Texan's play call on 3rd and 4 on their last series with under 2 minutes left and protecting a 4 point lead. I thought it a little unusual as I expected them to throw the ball short in an attempt to pick up the first down. It's getting a lot of criticism this morning on the talk shows.

As many accolades as Watson is getting, much of it well deserved, people are overlooking the fact that he threw 3 interceptions, all of them on him. Russell threw just one.

Houston was without two of their top pass rushers, JJ Watt and Whitney Merciless (sp). That has to be kept in mind when handing out praises to our OL for their uncharacteristically good pass protection.

There was a defensive pass interference call on us where the flag was thrown a good 20 yards away from where the play ended up and the pass IMO uncatchable. I could understand a holding or illegal contact call, but doesn't the ball have to be in the air in order for it to be PI? Anyone else know what play I am speaking of?
