Game Predictions

Postby Largent80 » Thu Nov 30, 2017 6:55 am

Post 'em here.

People are ragging on the Hawks O-Line....The Hawks have no running game....The LOB is no more........Philly is a juggernaught.

BALDERDASH I Say !!!!!!!!

The Hawks are home underdogs for the first time in the RW era. They have a playoff spot to play towards. They are fielding the best version of an O-Line all year (I know).

They play their best ball with their backs against the wall, and there is NO WAY they lose 3 in a row at the Clink.

So you know my prediction. Yes Philly is 10-1 but examine their road to get there, the strength of opponent WHEN THEY PLAYED THEM.

I'm not that impressed after viewing that, and the Hawks are going to win this game.. PERIOD.

They beat the Redskins twice, Denver, Giants, Dallas, 9ers Cards Bears and Denver all are teams with losing records. BARELY beat Carolina and lost to a mediocre Chiefs team. That's 9 out of 11 games where they beat weak, losing teams.

Color me NOT impressed. Their whole offense depends on them running. If the Hawks stop that they will win easily. Hawks are ranked 9th at stopping the run.

I'm Debbie's sister Donna.
I think the Eagles come out on fire and get up by 14- 21 before we start to change things up on Offense, then fall short of a comeback.
Score: 28-20 Eagles.

So we score 2 TD's, then change things on offense and make a comeback by scoring another 6 points?

River Dog - he means that the Eagles will be winning by 2 or 3 TDs before the Hawks kick it into gear, which will be too late to win.

I am all over the map on this one. I'm inclined to fall in Largent's camp because that is all we have seen in the PC/RW/LOB era. At the same time, when the Hawks have come back strong to win in the last part of a game or a season, they have been a pretty different team. The LOB is on IR, they cannot seem to run the ball, they are not getting pressure on the QB like our personnel is capable of (on paper anyway), Cliff is gone, Bennett is banged up etc.

AND, if we are honest, the Hawks wins have not come against world beaters, either. The wins have come against the Giants (2-9), Rams (8-3), Cards (5-6), Niners (1-10) twice, & Indi (3-8). We had to muster a comeback against the Watt-less/Mercilus-less/Rookie QB having Texans (4-7) at the Clink. We were beaten by teams that I "thought" we were better than in Green Bay (5-6) and Tennessee (7-4) & especially at home vs. Washington (5-6) and the Falcons (7-4). Our losses all seemed preventable and our wins all seemed way too close given the competition (save the Rams). The Eagles are not only winning against the mediocre competition, they are killing them. They have a top tier offense (# 1 in scoring) which makes people think of them as the High flying eagles and a lot of folks are overlooking the fact that the they have a top tier D as well (#3 in scoring behind the Ravens and Jags).

BUT............. then I think that this team has a lot of pride and they will likely fight like hell to avoid dropping a must-win game (yeah, pretty much is) and the 3rd in a row at the Clink. So I will say we do get down by a goodly amount and make a 2nd half run and win 30-28. I said I was all over the place at the beginning and I proved that here, me thinks.

Every good team that faces chumps is going to have good stats. While stats apply to handicapping the intangibles like heart and momentum and even circumstance are not included.

Seattle checks all those boxes and isn't a pushover team.
Redskins won in Seattle because Blair Walsh is a dump truck. He couldn't even kick a tying field goal against Atlanta.

It's been said a number of times that this Seahawks team plays to the level of their opponent. I think the Defense is going to stiffen up, and RW is going to give the Eagles defense fits. He's faster and more fit than last year, I predict his first 100yd rushing game since 2014.

That game tying FG was from 50+ yards out on a cold, damp night at sea level. The ball doesn't carry well at all, certainly not like it does on a sunny afternoon in Denver. I can vividly remember Hauschka a few years ago in the NFCCG on a night that was very similar telling Pete that he didn't think he could make it from 50. There was lots of blame to spread around in that game. We blew our chance at getting closer by burning a timeout on an unwinnable challenge earlier in the game and we ran that horrendous fake FG at the end of the first half.

I agree that Walsh is a poor kicker and is partly responsible for the Skins loss, although a couple of those were from the 50 yard range on another very damp day. I'm not comfortable with him but I think you're over dramatizing his problems.

Kam hasn't been the same player since he returned from his holdout, but Sherman is still one of the most feared cornerbacks in the game. Case in point is that after avoiding his side all game, on the very first play after he went down, Arizona started picking on his replacement.

This is one of those fork in the road games. If we win, it would mean that our friend L80 is correct, that Philly isn't as good as their record, that the NFC is still a wide open race, and that we're still on track to make the playoffs either as a division winner or a wild card, and with no clear favorite, anything can happen.

But if we lose, we could end up two games back of the Rams in the division and two back of the Panthers and Saints for the wild cards, meaning that we would no longer control our own destiny. It could signal the beginning of the end of an era in which we undoubtedly enjoyed the best football in our franchise's history.

Big game with some serious playoff implications. Can't ask for more than that.

Here's an interesting statistic.

"Seattle has never lost a regular-season game to a team with at least 10 wins, going 3-0 in such games and winning each of those games by at least 29 points since 2012."

Not true. We were home underdogs vs Atlanta as well.

A 3rd straight home loss looms. C Link is no longer the loud and intimidating pit of misery it used to be.

Philly is a damn good team. They are us, circa 2012-2013. Young, hungry, and talented.

They can run the ball, they don't soil themselves in the first half like we do, their defense is going to take advantage of our O line, and Wentz does not make mistakes.

We have to play a clean, near perfect game. We have yet to do that this season.

Russ keeps us in it, as always, but its a 30-24 Philly win.

An Eagles win would hardly be shocking.
The main reason I'm holding out hope is that we do very well SNF.
Now, this is a good team we're playing, no doubt, but prime time at home makes it a bit different than the usual 1pm affair.

Oh, I forgot about Atlanta, a game we could have easily won without giving them 2 touchdowns and not going for the 3 points, that's 17 if you are counting.

It's easy to say Philly is some sort of juggernaught, yes they can run the ball, the Hawks happen to be good at stopping that and I'm not buying that they come into Seattle on Sunday night and get a win. I pointed out their schedule and their only win with a winning team was by 3 friggin points.

If we limit mistakes we win this and easily. And THAT is spot on.

They are losing tonight.

As well as at least one other game. I know for sure that we were the underdog going into the home contest vs. the 49'ers in 2012, the game that we absolutely destroyed the Niners and they went on to nearly win the SB, and we were more than likely the dog in the Packers and Patriots home games that year, too.

They run the R.O. which means our 2nd level defense has to be good (linebackers) Just so happens we have probably 2 of the best linebackers in football.

The Eagles will certainly have their hands full with Seattles offense. Not to mention, Wentz will get hit HARD. That seems to be Richards solution to RO quarterbacks. Make them scared to run.

Our Offense is one dimensional. Limit Wilson and you've stopped us cold.
The Eagles have simply been executing their plays all year long on Offense and they've got one of the better DL's in the league. Like us, they don't do much fancy stuff on Defense, but what they do they do very well.
Not to mention they only have 1 player on their injury report. Like IG said, they're like us a few years ago when we stayed mostly healthy.
A lot of breaks will have to go our way to have a chance to win tonight.

I don’t know. I’ll say hawks 31-eagles 24. It’s a contender or pretender game for Seattle . A couple of games went their way so a loss doesn’t eliminate them but I’ve never seen the nfc this stackedin my life .
